French Strikes
Just a word of warning the French transport unions have voted for more strikes. One next week and the next is Tuesday 14th June. This will cause distributions at Ports, Airports, Trains, ring roads in the bigger cities (todays road blocks were in Caen and other places) also this causes panic buying of fuel as they have blocked the depots all week.
Worth considering when travelling to LM. |

There is still petrol and gazole in centre of France, but some people are queuing at the stations. As in each country of EU, there is a "strategic stock" which can be used in particular circumstances and supposed to last one month of usual consumption. The French government has not decide to use now.
Fill your tanks at Dover, Folkestone, Portsmouth etc, before leaving. It's too early to talk about possible blockades of harbours and ferries and there is no strike in Channel transports so far. |

Just done some rough totting up and our trip, without any side excursions etc, looks to be just shy of 1,000km - pretty sure that's going to need more than the one tank of fuel...

Well they were talking about it on the bbc this morning so probably means it will not be as serious as some people think, but will keep a close eye on things as car we are taking will need at least two fill ups during the week

There was a shortage of fuel in northern France yesterday. We're travelling back from Pau and were forewarned, but others struggled to get filled up. There could be problems with some ferry crossings as well due to intermittent dock workers strikes!
Got to love the French..... |

Maybe controversial, but I like the way the French stick up for themselves against unpopular Government decisions. But Le Mans wk should be left alone !!!!

This might be useful o some. Just a quick machine translate:
Carburants : durcissement du conflit (Fuels: hardening of the conflict) 20% des 12000 stations service en penurie complete ou partielle (20% of the 12,000 full shortages in service stations or in part) arret total (total stop) arret d'unites (stop of units) production reduite (Production reduced) en fonctionnement (Operating) depots de carburant (fuel depots) blocage (blocking) https://twitter.com/afpfr |

This may be the one time football helps Le Mans! With he European Champs in France at the same time I cant see France wanting these strike to be stopping people getting around whilst the whole of Europe (other than the 260,000 in Le Mans) watch empty grandstands
