Issues over sanctioning fees and ticket sales, I believe.

The race was poorly attended last year. Also poorly promoted in my view.
I would be suprised to see ChampCars back there but I wouldn't miss it if they were. |

Hopefully this is only short term, especially as at the moment CART wants, to make money on events, not lose out, maybe hopefully in the next few years, when Champ Car is in a much more promising shape, then hopefully, you never know, it could come back.....

If CC is planning on making TV and overseas interest a serious part of its series then it needs RA back on the schedule. As luke has suggested, I'm hoping it will come back.

And as I said, hopefully this is only short term. Who knows, maybe Laguna, and Mid-Ohio, could pop on the schedule one day... |

I would agree that RA is the best track in North America but I don't think it fits in the vision of the three amigos.
Metropolitan races, street circuits are what they want. I don't like it at all. Real road courses rule. |

I agree Mosport67, unfortunately the US doesn't have many real road courses that suit a powerful open-wheel series such as Champcar. Road America is definitely hands down the best track for Champcar in the US. Portland is ok for Champcar but even it doesn't have many passing oppurtunities except for the festival curves and occassionally(but rarely) coming off the back (curved)straight. Mid-Ohio and Laguna, while they are great tracks with a rich history and tradition just don't suit Champcar very well. They are not conducive to passing because the straights aren't long-enough and there are too many rythym sections.

Exactly. I really hope they end up back at RA as it is really special to watch the ChampCars stretch their legs there. I just don't see it happening though based on the current business plan. |

Without traction control and other driver aids, it has been much more possible to pass at Laguna.
I don't know about you guys, but turns 2 and 4 at Mid Ohio are decent passing places; that back straight is not exactly short. Road America is definitely the best natural terrain road course in North America (I'd say Mosport Park is #2). |

It's certainly feasible to pass at Mid-Ohio - Montoya would even pass on the outside of turn 4.
But even if you don't pass at Laguna, you can't pass either at Monaco. Laguna and Mid-Ohio should be on the schedule just for the challenge alone, and Elkhart Lake must be on the schedule of all racing series. If I ruled the world all championships should have to race at Elkhart and Spa, because they are the best tracks in the world at the moment. I'd say they give the best mix of a) speed, b) passing and c) scenery. |

That sounds fine. Just add Mosport for Canadian content and I will be happy. |

I was just mentioninbg tracks that have been CART stalwarts - but certainly adding Mosport would do no harm.

The USAC cars ran there in the 70's. They were spectacular. I can only imagine the ChampCars there rather than Toronto.

They should be in both Toronto and Mosport really. None of this only-street courses crap. One of the things that made CART great was running on ovals, speedways, road courses, street courses and an airport!
