Free practice two is now over and the results are quite interesting indeed. The Thiriet By Tds Racing Oreca was quickest, followed JOTA Sport and then the new SMP Racing BR01!

The time sheet in pdf format is available here.

GT qualifying is very much a Ferrari show:

In GTE, Ferraris were 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th, Porsches 6th and 8th; and the BMW 7th. Matt Griffin on poll.

In GTC, Ferraris were 1st, 2nd, and 4th; BMW 3rd; the Massive Motorsport Aston-Martin bringing up the rear.

The top three P3 cars time’s were again all among the GTE car times.

the smp racing car is on the pace, are we expecting that car to last the race or are they ironing out reliability issues?

I'm confused by the schedule, it doesn't appear to stipulate which time zone it's in. 1:30 start, is that 12:30 UK?

Those BR01s are gorgeous, such a shame to lose them in a year.

Great start to this race, there are as many cars in the top 4 at the moment that will be allowed under the new rules. Pity to see this awesome diversity about to be shredded.

Quick Nic (the French one) is beached at T5. I can see a safety car coming for that so it's a good job Hirsch has just passed Patterson. The LMP2s are putting on a cracking race here.

http://www.europeanlemansseries.com/en/live not live on Motors, but you get it online in 1080p.

It seems like the race director doesn't want to use a FCY - instead we'll now get a SC which interrupts the class battles...

FCY is annoying for such a small thing, but it's not surprising seeing so many people pay no attention to yellow flags. Pretty sure the leader passed a P3 directly under yellow too.

This race would benefit greatly from slow zones/Code 60/80

During the beached 25, I saw the 37 overtaking under doubly waved yellows, passing just a few feet by the marshal close to the inside of the track. Madness.

Don't have that moment, but look at this:

The marshal with the flag was stepping next to the 25's front right corner, when the #37 rocketed past.. don't think they got a penalty for it

Now TUSC, that's how you do a safety car - safety car out, sort it, safety car in, get on with it.

Have you left them enough room for two or three ad breaks in that time though?

The SC procedure may be quick, but the leader in LMP3 has now been given a 1:15 advantage over 2nd place due to it. If you have an SC you need to use the wave-by - that's why FCY is so much better.

Clever driving through traffic from Jun Jin to keep Dolan behind him for a few more laps. Every lap behind helps Hirsch as well.

Edit - And some good pressuring driving from Dolan to make Jun Jin go wide at Turn 8 through traffic. Meanwhile, Graves get a stop-go for overtaking under yellow.
