[V8SC09R01]Clipsal 500, Adelaide (Merged x1)
Things are starting to take shape for the new season. Drivers are being announced, new-look paintschemes are being revealed, so I feel it's time to start talking about the first round of the '09 season, which is now less then a month away...
Who are the contenders? And who are pretenders? Time to find out... |

The green hats, we expect photos then, possibly with a couple of young grid girls under your arms. That will make you feel younger |

My Favourite 08 moment was when Courtney/Besnard comeback drive at Bathurst. Courtney raced through to dominate the opening stint had 15 sec. gap to Lowndes who was in 2nd. In the 2nd stint a slowly deflating tyre (originally diagnosed as a damaged anti-roll bar) slowed Besnard's stint in Courtney's car allowing Whincup to assert dominance over the field rest of the race. On lap 160 S.Richards, fading badly on rear tyres was unable to stop Courtney move into 3rd place. |

for me i think Tander will win, CL in the BF will be hard to beat along with Brighty.
obviously Whincup, Frosty will be leading contenders with the FG, although the Giz was very fast there last year. 1st: Tander 2nd: Lowndes 3rd: Whincup 4th: Davison 5th: T.Kelly 6th: Winterbottom 7th: Murphy 8th: R.Kelly 9th: Van Gisbergan 10th: Ingall |

There seems to be a lot of hype going around about Bright. If he can jump cars and win straight away I'll be mightily impressed. Depending on the progress made with the FGs at the upcoming test days, I'd say Clipsal 2009 may come down to a battle between the #2 and the #39... |

Unsure of the changes at turn 8. Apparently it has been altered to slightly decrease the entrance speed to it aswell as taking away some of the inside curbing/wall.
CL in a BF is an obvious mistake, if he starts in a BF then i'm a munkeys uncle |

a bit off the subject but:
http://www.v8supercars.com.au/live_race_engine/choose.aspx is this the best place for finding the race coverage? if so, i am REALLY looking forward to Round 1. maybe i can see most of the races, barring crazy time diffs. i am going to at least try and follow this series (best in the world, IMHO) through the year since SPEED has cut the off season coverage in the States. Giday, mates! here's to the start of race season |

I'll be backing either Lowndes or Courtney for a win.
Turn 8 is supposedly a bit narrower with a slightly reduced entry speed. Whether its noticeable or not - well, we'll know soon. |

i would be definatly looking at the Giz to turn out a decent resault he was about 6th on debut there last year. i think anyone in a BF will give it a shake especially CL and Brighty both 888 and SBR BF's were quick last year.
i hope Holden get a win though and the only real chance early on atleast is Tander again. |

And Holdsworth. He was dynamite there last year. Robbo came on strong at the end of last year as well.
Shouldn't forget Rusty either. But for sure, a hOlden victory would be nice. |
