It is all getting rather too silly
Ten Tenths is great web site and an excellent place to air feelings and discuss relevant matters and events, so what has gone wrong or is it just that the racing season has closed and that nobody has anything interesting to say. I refer to a couple of recent threads that just seem to be a excuse for sending silly comments to and thro, if people what to communicate in this fashion, no problem, use the phone or personal e-mail, just do not fill the web site up with rather purial one liners. It really does not make for interesting reading. - Balders

I am really sorry you feel this way Balders, but if a lot of people get innocent pleasure from the various threads on this site, Where is the Harm. Life is a serious thing but there has to be a lighter outlook,Serious threads are treated seriously and Frivolous threads are there to be enjoyed. So please lighten up , you need only look at the serious threads if thats what you want, I am confident the organizers of this excellent site will keep us in check if we stray too far. It would be a boring world if we all liked the same things. We could all have ended up driving Mk II Morris Oxfords like they seem to in India.

Theres a point to the warn icon - until one of the moderators tells me I'm stepping out of line, I'll continue to post in the style I would adopt if I was talking with you on post. Oh look, one of the mods played along with us.
I do not consider myself reprimanded, but I hear what your saying M Greenslade. You don't actually have to read everything posted here. My recent post was for the attention of Stoowert cos he did'nt know how to use the PM system. The title alone would indicate that it was for him only. The fact that the jolly rescue boys derailed it was a bit of fun, which I gladly participated in in order to keep the thread at the top of the board. Stoowert is now aware of PM and we'll use it as required. However, surely excessive use of PM'ing creates a clique mentality. As for the marshals world ranking, some subjects are begging for fun to be made of them. If after the first few replies it wasn't to your taste, why read further and get your blood pressure up unneccesarily. Would we really enjoy days on post where everybody was deadpan and serious? - I know I wouldn't. Finally for those that want to ignore the trivia spouting from some of our fellow board members - there's an ignore function in your user control panel. |

This forum is a community, in it you have the serious discussion and the frivolity, join in the parts you want too.
There are a lot of people who know each other so you’re going to get comments thrown around, live with it, it’s not doing any harm. |

Me thinks Mr Meldrew has had a sense of humour failure. What's wrong with a bit of good humoured banter, it helps the world go round.

I have to say I enjoy reading the marshals forum, but I do feel you need to make sure you remain inclusive and welcoming, rather than cliquey with too many in-jokes. It's not bad at the moment, but it's could very easily get out of hand.

so should we take it to the gravel trap then?
Your call, you "moderate" that forum. cos newbies can miss many of the inside jokes in there. Ah, the familiar flavour of cabal.. |

no, no, must resist...
Actually, I use a rucksack for carrying my gear, so much more convenient than a case. However, it does neccesitate the addition of one of Sevenoak's finest binbags when the weather gets inclement. Hmm contemplating it, maybe the Samsonite would be better for carry the gear in winter, despite having to rest it occasionally. damn..failed |

They say that Love makes the world go round, But humour acts as a gyroscope and keeps it in balence.
Maisie we rely on your judgement where to put threads and to tell us off if we overstep the mark (I picture you as a school ma'rm with morterboard and cane ) 9 |

Having visited many of the other Forums here I think that the 'in jokes' here are not that difficult to grasp.
Most Marshals joke with Rescue Crews that all we do is sleep, drink coffee and eat donuts while sitting in a van! I'm not sure that visitors would find it that difficult either. I appreciate that sometimes some of the threads may get a little OTT but the choice is there not to read them, a choice I made about the threads about Thruxton recently which began to verge on the hysterical.
