A very NASCAR like deal. Ford teams building engines for other Ford teams.
Wonder if the LMS cars will now blow the signature SBR black puff of smoke on gear changes? |

Can't see any losers out of this one. With Winterbottom contracted to SBR for 5 years they had to put him somewhere. Larkham looking for a performance boost including new star driver. Larkham takes Winterbottom onboard and SBR do their engines. Good deal for all, heres hoping SBR attach some setup sheets next to the engines!!

Setup sheets wouldnt work, the cars use a different damper package... and the shells are suffciently different to suggest outright settings of components on setup may not apply either, although general principles are largely immutable

Not quite, the 2004 LMS BA isnt a 2003 SBR car with blue paint...

No it isn't but it's the engines that get the attention aren't they?

No better or worse than sourcing them from 888 or BJR.... not sure any of the others would be worth touching

Whats the word on LMS shells GTR, are they Behags? Come to think of it, who is still running Behags and was/is there a common problem with them that was being worked on? |

The Ellery engines are certainly good, but to scale up supply for 2 additional cars would be very difficult for a small team.
The LMS cars commenced life as Beehag-prepped shells, with a suitable amount od LMS-inspired redesign to fix some of the inherent issues they discovered after building the first BA. Most teams running Beehags have developed significant changes to the shell in the cage area to improve chassis stiffness... |

M.Winterbottom is the dark horse this year...I think he will surprise a lot of top teams...maybe CH10 might have to interview him rather than *THE NOSE* for once..

Should be good for both camps as now with 4 cars running the engines the development can move ahead at a competitive rate whilst allowing SBR to divert money to other areas of the car.LMS can tick the box marked engines as needing little effort in the development area and concerntrate on other things on there cars.
Good stuff all round.Larko did pretty well last time he had an aliance with SBR so fingers crossed |

On the Mark Noske chat last night, he said the 00 Motorsport engine last year used lighweight components but when they we purchased, they had 2004 spec internals so I would assume the Blueprint spec is now in force?

Blueprint engine spec is in force in the main series... Konica is still "run what you brung" with a grandfather clause in place... other than the requirement to update to the M48 MoTeC like the main series, they can still run lightweight bits....

I see that the new engines at LMS has made a huge difference. It was good to see Bargs right up the front in the three races.

The engines are substantially better than the previous versions. I dont think there are any slugs in the field any more.
