Rubio should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
WTCR Race of Netherlands 2019

Lynk & Co 1-2-3-4 in qualifying

Seems that this latest change in BoP was a little bit too early

I don't think it's down to the BoP change. An extra 10bhp or so plus a 10kg gain in weight wouldn't make a change that big. I think it's just that the nature of a tight, twisty track suits the car (or the skill of the engineers) a lot more than one with fast corners and long straights.

I agree on this. But the BOP has been readjusted for them now!!! +30kg and 97.5% of Power, so basically back to the old BOP for the Link&co

Also Huff has changed the engine so he will be at the back in race 1

Guess we'll find now if it's the BoP or the track. Does show that they take too short term a view of it though IMO.

Benni Leuchter was very good today. Did VW get better BoP?

Juntos is a back marker

Lynk & Co is definitely a good car but we all know how TCR's BoP is done.

I am stunned with Alfa Romeo's this weekend performance.

25 cars in one second in Q1. wow:
https://www.touringcartimes.com/2019...ion-zandvoort/

The field definitely became closer
But the lap from Muller was stunning

F1 can have Zandvoort, racing is nigh on impossible here. Even the reverse grid gave us a dull race..

The problem I have with WTCR is I've got an impression that it seems too random because of constant BoP changes and actually a team (car) can be dominant one week and dead last the other. I know WTCR's not F1 but the way the results look in WTCR makes me feel it's really difficult to follow what's really going on here.

The series is a joke, the BOP games were ridiculous but the team orders are something else. The result was decided before the race even started, it leaves a bitter taste.

Definitely agree. Take the Alfas - both drivers got 2 podiums each last round, neither managed a points finish this weekend.

Haven't watched the races (and probably wouldn't be able to even if I could!) but glad to see Azcona doing so well after watching him in TCR Europe last year.

Another stinker for Shedden. And is anyone else feeling like Monteiro isn't completely recovered from his eye injury?

Feeling the same however don't think KCMG/JAS are at the same level as Munnich Motorsport.

The most entertaining in the 3rd race was the radiocommunication with Erlacher

Now we see the terribleness of this ruleset. BoP does not work in this way. There needs to be wholesale changes for next season – maybe championship order ballast.

In Slovakia, the Hyundai drivers had to race but weren't allowed to be quicker than a laptime set by the team.

In the Netherlands, now we learn that Lynk & Co give one car each weekend a downtuned engine and were driving deliberately slowly in Slovakia.

Shedden being so slow seemingly helps JKV.

Estaban was trying to win the race as slowly as possible for Honda.

This is daft.

Thats what I was thinking. There should be no car in WTCR that does not race in lower tier championships and is therefore sold to privateers.

The performance of Hyundai in other championships is what keeps the bop high, even if they sandbag in WTCR. Same with Honda.

There should be a set minimum of sold and racing cars before a car is eligable for WTCR.

Not bad idea, but maybe would delay the use in WTCR, and WTCR should be the showcase for buyers in other championships.

Race 3 was a team orders-dominated disaster. Fitting that Jean Todt was there.

F1 around this track is going to be atrocious, as if it isn't already atrocious enough.

The compensation weight needs to go. It only exists because the FIA feel the need to stick their mucky fingers into everything. Just use the global BOP.

It seems the Lynk is the Cadillac of TCR haha

Touring car times claiming a secret meeting of team bosses threatened to withdraw 16 cars unless the BOP revision was reversed.

I remember from the first TCR rules in 2015 each manufacturer had to build at leat 10 cars each and be available to customers. I'm surprised if not all homologated TCR cars must be available to customers, as that's the idea with the regulations from the first place.

LADA has at least two cars (one in Russia, one in Germany with Lubner) as private entries, but I don't know if the Russian privateer is only a works car in disguise (there were 3 works LADA's in TCR Russia last year, but only 2 works LADA's this year + 1 privateer).

I would believe, they made it easier, as there were a lot of private builders like Romeo Ferraris, TOPRUN, STARD, Vukovic. Would be a hard challenge for them, to build first 10 cars and then start with publicly showing them in TCR.

It might even have been formulated as "having capacity to build at least 10 cars"-ish, just to avoid having locally built oddball cars run by one single team. Still, such cars raced anyway (Onyx/Arena/Proteam/FRD Ford Focus, I'm looking at you!).

Unfortunately, we can't look at those regulations. Can be hard to judge, if a workshop is able to do more than 1-2 cars, and if this will be the case in the end.

We can't really blame Onyx/Arena/Proteam, because they didn't try to race really (as far as i can remember). It can not be forbidden, to start such a project - all great things start first with an idea!
