Rotherham Advertiser

Dunno if this is the right place but couldnt think of anywhere else

I was just searching google to try find a contact for Balfe Racing and among the results was a link to the Rotherham Advertisers website. Though it was lacking any piccies the content was quite good for a local rag..GT's news on Rockingham & Mallory plus 750MC among other things...the question is WHY? Why can the Rotherham advertiser do this but other locals seem to struggle or cant be bothered at all. I suppose the real question is "Who is the editor"

The editor is obviously a racing nut. Perhaps he logs on here? Did you find Balfe Racing? PM me if not.

Didn't Jeremy Clarkson start on the Rotherham Advertiser?

In my S****horpe Target freebie paper this week there was a half page review of the British Rallycross Championship, which left me wondering - why? I don't think there are any locals

Why do you think I put my location as Lincolnshire

As I originate from Grimsby I think I'm qualified to confirm S****horpe has the biggest population of them in the country (with the possible exception of Hull )

Where you from Chris?

Errr, S C U N T H O R P E. But, I actually live in a suburb (Bottesford), so it's marginal. Goole is probably high on that list as well.

Oh, and being from Grimsby would make you a cod head wouldn't it?

To get this back on topic, and as I have said elsewhere:

1. Some local papers are (far) better than others;
2. It depends on the editor to some extent;
3. It depends even more on whether there is an enthusiastic local contributor - for example I (with Chris, Paul Rayner, Ruth Alexander and Barry Eden) get loads in The Hinckley Times, and Pete Scherer and James Beckett both provide lots of coverage to their 'locals'.

Hinckley to midlands motor racing is like Nashville to country music (look how carefully I spelt country)

Because Balfe is from Caythorpe, we get a lot of his news in the Newark Advertiser. Also, some news on Paul Hayward-Halfpenny and his Cortina, and regular bits on locals doing bike racing at Mallory or Cadwell.

What is the coverage like...I just contacted them to see about an accreditation letter but was politely declined with the line "We do arrange to have our own reports and photos"

Sorry, I've just remembered that I posted in here!

They do sometimes have pics of the Mosler, and the coverage is good, usually a bit of the behind-the-scenes-tech-info, such as why he was quick in qually, and his views on the race etc.

Probably taken straight from the team press release done by Adam Proctor, or else the GT press release done last year by Paul Lawrence and myself.
