Track records broken by the new DP01

Which records have been broken besides this one in 2007?

Most of CC circuits are adjusted every year making comparisons meaningless.
Road America, however, may provide a yard stick.

Who cares. The Panoz is ugly and needs to be replaced.

Bring back Lola!

From what I heard, Lola's idea was no better, seeing that it was more than likely to be a re-hashed FN06 from Formula Nippon, minus airbox:

Either way, Lola would have brought the same thing that Panoz brought (raised nose, more detailed sidepods, etc.)

Lola doesn't make the things anymore, and hasn't for awhile, so parts are in VERY short supply (hence why a new car was introduced).

Who made them for Lola?

A lot of people from Lola were working on the DP 01 project as they did in previous Lola CC projects.

I assume they were used because of their CC experience and know-how?

Yup I guess. That's why I was a bit disapointed with the amount of problems there were...

That pretty much agrees with all the other 'expert testimonials'.

If I had it my way with a merged series we could use these chassis:
Dallara GP2 (Don't care what Bernie thinks about it)
Lola FN06
Panoz DP01

we are forgetting that the Toyota was not proprly set up for the track as is what just an exhibition run, im sure that id the toyota was properly set up it would beat the Champcar.

My bet is that the Panoz and the Cosworth were not 100% legal for a champcar event. To get the record, I'd guess Cosworth would sacrifice an engine and turn up the rev limit...Bridgestone 'may' have had some REALLYRED tires...who knows? And because it was off-season testing, there is no guarantee the Champcar weight limit was adhered to as well.

Toyota would go to the expense of bringing the car half way around the world with out bothering with the set up?

Consider this: the Cosworth engine, used now, is detuned, giving away 100HP

Because Toyota would not benefit from testing at a circuit that is nowhere similar to a circuit they race at?

the toyota would have problay run on the extra hard exibiton tyres that are produced, obviosuly these would have poor grip

Toyota doesn't think about such things? with the Billions they spend on advertising and publicity?

You must be joking....The team they sent over, could and I'm sure did set the car up in a matter of hours.

I'm not so naive as to believe that the DP01 can overcome the huge power to weight advantage the F1 possesses but, I'll bet Toyota wishes they had tried a little harder, or not at all.

Toyota was told they had to use the exhibition rubber, just ask Heidfeld about that compound, and the car was detuned from full race trim, or so Racer Mag said last year. But yeah, still shouldn't be beaten by a spec-racer, although in the hands of a great driver and hard on the power to pass. Maybe next year will be a Ferrari or Merc year and we can see what a real F1 can do.

Yeah, I'd like to see a top-flight F1 car lap Laguna in anger. I'd like to see 24 of 'em lap Laguna for oh - say 70 laps or so in anger... but I digress. I'm also of the belief that the DP01 can start dipping lower in lap times around Laguna than what Seabass drove this past "Spring Training".

Chris

EDIT: A little side-note Lola are still very much active from F3, to Formula Nippon, heck they have a fleat of the most significant race cars in the world - sports cars. ;-)

I would not be surprised to see Champ Car at Laguna in '08 or '9 in view of the warming relationship with Mazda.

In a merged environment I just can't see how you could run the dp 01 and Dallara together because they are such different.
