Rain returns to Interlagos - puts race in doubt

Heavy rain at Interlagos, the race may be called off. Decision due shortly.

Its the teams fault. I say let them race, if the drivers dont want to they can pull out and the team can explain to its sponsors that they're a bunch of idiots for not taking proper wet tyres.

I see Ron has said something sensible by saying that the 1 wet tyre rule is a good one but it needs to be modified so that the wet tyre is actually a wet one and not an intermediate.

serious? they're not even going to attempt to run it?
That'd be worse than Surfer's last year.

Also, would the fans get their money back? I'd think they'd deserve some compensation for their Sunday tickets if the race wasn't even run.

paulzinho: don't blame the teams. It was Michelin that forced this rule in.

If it was light rain, they could race. Not in heavy rain.

Yes seen the track on RTL (German TV station) in their pre-race coverage - it is worse than it was even before Friday's 1st practice - even now there's from (if I can translate my German correctly) talk of a Safety Car start probably being required....

I bet Villeneuve wants to race still !......maybe he will win , as he will be the only driver out there...

Shame Sato isnt there , he would have raced for sure !

Even villeneuve said racing was different from qualifying...

I'm having memories of the Surfer's Paradise race last year, the rain tyres they were using were really bad too... and look what happened. Hope this turns out differently..

No but I have this from http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/moto...ne/2922651.stm

"Heavy rain at the Interlagos circuit in Sao Paulo on Sunday could force a delay to the start of the Brazilian Grand Prix."

"A decision on whether to put back the start time of 1800 BST is expected from race officials at around 1630 BST." (Basically about 15 minutes after I posted this)

"Many drivers complained at the time that their tyres were insufficient to cope with the conditions."

EDIT: A source tells me the rain however has stopped in the last 10 minutes - what will happen now?

Do they have jet-blower trucks they can use to dry the track to where inters can use it?

Thanks guys, silly me checking out F1 sites only!

It adds a little weight to the suggestion. A delay is clearly far more likely that cancelling the race.

Not really - Coronation Street is often delayed if the Brazil race finishes late regardless of the schedule. But if the race does start at say 19.00 then the chances of us seeing the whole thing live don't seem too good sadly
