Why did Ford decide to enter Jaguar as their F1 team?
Surely they would have been better off continuing to supply teams with their engine. Think about it, Stewart-Ford would have been a much stronger force than they were last year (and I'm sure they could have persuaded Jackie to carry on for a little longer)and certainly stronger than Jaguar are, plus they could have given Minardi recognition for their improvement by supplying better engines. So both cars would be running competitively (yes Minardi fan, I believe Minardi would be a competitve force, for points at least) with Ford writ large upon them. As it is they are advertising a marque which doesn't sell in huge numbers and they have a team that looks all at sea, making no progress at all. |

All very true....but Eddie has a better hairdo than all the other drivers. So at least they lead the way in something.

VILLENEUVE!!
I do agree temporarily, Schume. Temporarily, because it's not original; JV will always be the original one in the F1 paddock when it comes to mad and crazy things!!
And on the Jaguar thing: they'd have been better off asking Mr Walkinshaw to sell off his stake in Arrows and bring - VOLVO - into F1. Now, doesn't that sound as if it would score more points? Further to that - and at the risk of getting Minardi Fan excited - I think Ford are being right bar5tards for not supplying Minardi, the best Italian team, with newer engines than the old lumps they're having to put up with now. |

If Cosworth had any good engines, they'd be putting them in their Jaguars, not selling them to Minardi.

Ford have indeed scored an own goal.
Stewart would have been winning races this season if they had stayed - they were a team well and truly going places. If Ford had also given Minardi decent engines, they would have had the publicity of 4 cars with the ability to finish in the points, and even the podium. Unfortunately Minardi only got the Ford engines because Bernie had a word with them. If they gave them the same engines as Jaguar they would have been outclassed this season by Minardi. On the plus side, if the buy in by PSN occurs, Minardi will apparently have nice new Cosworths in 2001. Sort it out Jaguar!!! |
