No sponsorship… no money to go racing..
No hat sponsor, no couple of minutes on national teev with the pilot adorning his team’s sponsors on his race suit.

And.. of course… Mr Reynolds doesn’t seem to have Vodafone branding on his race suit anywhere… just his stack hat..

There is a reason some people shouldn’t run be considered to run race teams..

He's only about 20 years too late. Dunlop branded caps and only Supercars supplied beverages on podiums and at press conferences have been in place for a very long time.

In fact the previous pole award sponsor already had a requirement in the rules re branded caps. We only had the issue at Bathurst because the wording in the rulebook hadn't changed from last year - presumably because the deal for Boost support came together late in the day.

I expect that Mr Adderton is still pretty happy with the coverage it's given his brand name!

It wasn't a rule change, someone in Supercars f'ed up and forgot to cut and paste the new pole sponsors name in the event Sup Regs.

Actually, cut and paste wasn't missed in the Supp Regs - the previous pole sponsor's details were still where they normally are placed in the Supercar Ops manual at E.8.5.2.2:

8.5.2 Any Driver who is required to attend this presentation must be suitably attired with their driving suit done up to the neck.
8.5.2.1 Drivers are required to wear caps supplied by Dunlop during the post race interviews and official podium presentation at the end of a Race.
8.5.2.2 Drivers are required to wear caps supplied by ARMOR ALL during the official Pole Award presentation at the conclusion of qualifying or the shootout.

The Supp Regs for the AGP support have been used to override and amend 8.5.2 though. Definitely an oversight by Supercars at Bathurst, which I suspect indicates that the Boost deal was done quite late in the day.

Happens. The gAFL had similar dispensations in place when sponsored by Toyota for example the Ford sponsored Geelong & its stadium.

How many times does Boost have to tell the world that it is done with Supercars only to surface somewhere else? To stop the circus, Supercars needs to grow a backbone and tell Boost and its gobby proprietor to go away.

V8Supercars either enforces the rules or they don’t.
I wonder if a team can protest another team’s pole position because the driver wouldn’t wear the official sponsor’s hat in the presentations..

Take it a different way… Is this how V8Supercar treats its other sponsors?
Promise the world, not deliver 100%, need to renegotiate or come up with a replacement. And **** the teams, and sponsor off in the meantime.

Actually it seems there exclusions are normal in other big sports. So it's the same for everybody and the big sponsors are participating willingly, knowing that it protects them as it does others.

Either way surely Pete's contract should have covered the possibility?
