you may have discussed this before but why oh why isn't the DTM at donington this year or even anywhere in england which has a big track?

Money, or rather the lack of it.
Last year's Donington meeting was one of the smallest, if not the smallest, crowd at a DTM meeting all year. There's a lot of extra expense involed in shipping the teams, cars and support personel and little in the way of return. |

It is a shame isn't it? I have such fond memories of all the DTM teams from the first time they ever came over in 1991 up to the present day. Great bunch of people - and never failed to serve coffee and bikkies to the pit marshals.

Seems impossible to get a crowd to Donington.I think because they keep moving the crowd further from the action. No facilities for the public, just one tiny stand.

Loosing the DTM is a big shame, I went in 2003 and 2002 and it was great seeing "proper" touring cars.
The highlight was Alesi's low riding Merc flicking up showers of sparks on the run down Craners. |

Yes I was really disappointed when I heard that they weren’t coming back. They really were great races. Anyway Donington is getting a £4.5 million redevelopment over the next two years, it doesn't say anything about new grandstands but lets hope that some of that money is put towards some.
And it reply to what the Monster said, I loved watching Alesi, and the rest, down the Craners. At one point I even managed to snap three of the Mercs going downhill from behind. |

Annoyingly I'd finished the year at uni last year when DTM came over. Typical Donny, they put all the good events on when I'm not at uni!!!!

Directions - out of Paddock 3 gate, turn right, first left carry on until you reach the village (about a mile I think) left fork - Bull's Head on the left - can't miss it - just follow all the marshals. |
