for sure there might be new tyre supplier, additional sponsor or a series sponsor ? we have to wait and see. what about Scrutineering ? if they dont keep the very experienced srutineers i am afraid that people take chances and that will destroy the series quickly ! there will be Teams from Europe definitly, to keep the competition high. heard that Motaworld come back under different Management, maybe. Eurointernational for sure. Nearl yall Teams that competed in Macau are sure to be back for full Season in 2011, plus and thats the good a bird sing that there are 2 new Teams trying to get into the Series. Looks like Asia is slowly waking up in terms of competitive entry Level Motorsport. ahem, Lam Pak, pls one Calvin Wong does not mean that the Team will now take the Championship in 2011, pls be a bit more realictic. |

The most interesting new team is Meco Motorsport. If they materialise on the grid it'll be a big boost for young Indian drivers making their way into international single seaters. All the best to them.

For 2011 Formula Pacific, Mofaz are rumoured to be running 2-teams (a) Mofaz Petronas (current); and (b) Ala-Fonte Motorsports (NEW)! How does this encourage motorsports, I dont know? The biggest problem for next season is again BUDGET (as with previous season). Without BMW, who can sponsor the series and make it cheaper for teams & indirectly for drivers? The rights holders to the series needs to address this and other matters (e.g. venues, parts-suppliers, tires-suppliers) soonest in order for teams to draw-up their budget and have a clear plan how to charge drivers for the season's race seat.

The price has already been set. Ask almost any team and the answer is the same - 150,000 Euros. Revenue from a title sponsor would accrue to the promoter and perhaps a prize fund for the teams. It won't change the price to drivers in my opinion.
The provisional timetable: 8 - 10 April Malaysian F1 support (2 races) 27 - 29 May Sepang AFOS (4 races) 15 - 17 July Korea AFOS at Korean International Circuit (4 races) 5 - 7 August Guangdong AFOS (4 races) 23 - 25 September Singapore F1 support (2 races) 28 - 30 October Indian F1 support (2 races) 18 - 20 November Macau (1 race, non-championship) Undoubtedly an exciting calendar, with a good mix of track time (AFOS) and glamour (F1 support) for those who have the budget. Formula Pacific 2011
There's also a rumour that one of the key players will be fielding a third team, which would be managed entirely by a Malaysian Formula 1 driver. That would indeed set the bar much higher than all of us expected, aye?
On another note, 150,000 Euros sounds reasonable for a race seat in Formula Pacific, but then again after adding up the insurances required, the crash and damage costs and all..... Anyone heard about a team that are conducting Winter Testing for a low sum of 1,000 Euros...how they manage that is beyond everybody's comprehension. Tyres alone cost 750 Euros a set! Looking forward to thoughts.... |

Provisional Calendar
Heard that Sentul might come into the equation for 2011...with races already amounting to 19 in total for 2011, how will Sentul fit in?
Again, 150,000 Euros to run 19 races for next season will be cutting it tight. Teams who charged 150,000 Euros for 2010 barely made it through for 2010, which only had 15 races. Let's see what happens. |

Tests for 1000 Euro ? where ? in Sepang or Zhuhai ? how that Team will pay Mechanics etc. maybe they have big sponsor or desperate to burn Money. that kind of Money is below cost of a 4 session Test, so....... why people think that drivers need F1 Test after a Season in a beginners Formula ? it does not really make sense, draws attention away from preparing for next step in Motorsport. F3 or GP3 Test would make more sense. |

bugzy - usually only an old set of tyres is included in that cost and driver will hve to buy a new set if they want to see how fast they really are.

Are there gonna be any prizes? Would an F1 test with Lotus be an overkill?

I wonder if small team like IM will continue next year? They only have Mun Shien this year and with only 1-driver, surely lose money. How to recover next year?

Further information developed indicating the father of Mun Shien had allowed former racer Ng Wei Leong to operate the family vehicle next year. That some should be rich shows that others may become rich, and hence is just encouragement to industry and enterprise.

if somebody behind them and finance it, even better, IM was presented nicely and they done a fairly good job, taking in account the irritations they had at the start of the season and what i heard they been friendly to anyone in the Paddock, so great Sportmansship. would be great if they are back in 2011 ! |

WOW! If true, Wei Leong is one lucky lad. Hope he realises and make full use of the opportunity and make IM a respected outfit.

Awhile back I heard Air Asia has been accepted to compete in Formula Pacific series. Alex Yoong is the mentor of AirAsia ASEAN Driver Development Program. Nabil Jeffri from AirAsia ASEAN Driver Development Program raced for Team Eurasia, which is run by local motorsports icon Mark Goddard. Put the pieces together. Bang! Here it is the third team. Now everyone can fly!

Formula Pacific Secures Title Sponsor
So it's not a rumour anymore. From the AFOS website:
Motorsport Asia is very pleased to announce that they have secured a Title sponsor for the Formula Pacific Series. The deal is for the next three years, the 2011 to 2013 seasons inclusive. The terms agreed between Motorsport Asia and the Title Sponsor will also include a name change of the Series to include the Title Sponsor’s name. ..... “Obviously everyone is waiting for the announcement of the Calendar and in fact the only thing holding that back is the some contractual formalities. Everything is agreed and I hope to have those signed off in the next couple of weeks so that we can make a public announcement of the Calendar. Frankly, it will not be much of a change from this year but we have one or two exciting new venues, so in actual fact it will be better.” He added. The name of the Title Sponsor and the new Championship will be announced at a grand launch event, which is being scheduled for the 3rd or 4th week of January. Looking good for the new season! |

"champ motorsport dont race fbmw anymore. bmw is over. and championship be bad."
Oh yes - when CHAMP IS NOT INVOLVED THE SERIES SUCKS-RIGHT? WRONG! Perhaps they should fall in line for success in BMW or whatever it will be called. Showing up once a year - borrowed and pieced together cars - surely shows true interest in the series! Ah yes - forgot - Macau drivers and their purse! LamPac...cool your heels...walk on solid ground and build your castle on terra firma and not sand in the Gobi Desert! announcement from Bernie Jr looks promising.....time goes by and nobody will wait...unless you have faith and dedication towards the junior series...amen. |
