As many midfield drivers had good days, so did those who hired them - or four of them, as Dingo Motorsport did. Not only did they take away the 2006 Sandown 500 trophy, they also shattered the previous mark for most points in a round, becoming the first team past 1000 points! In all, nine teams bettered the old mark, lead by Dingo and fellow millenians Dazz Racing and Bahodietek.
Well done Dingo Motorsport, and their now-inebriated drivers Max Wilson, Jason Bargwanna, Mark Winterbottom, and Will Davison.

Hard Charger Award
The orgy of pointscoring some teams found themselves in lead to some spectacular gains on the leaderboard, led by Vodafone Team Green's 20-place gain. Also moving very rapidly were Dazz Racing (up 19) and Rowdy Motorsport (up 17).


Biggest Loser Award
Several teams suffered acutely from various steering, braking and mental breakages, with Tech Books Racing falling 17 places; SORF Inc./MVMotorsports, TCR Inc., Mongrelpunt Motorsport, and Team Soad all dropped 13 places, and Rombles Racing slipped 12.

In a startling case of deja vu, Club 27 Motorsport have again elected not to hire enduro drivers, and again their lead has been severely lacerated. Dingo Motorsport have carved 170 points out of the lead in one fell swoop, and now take that momentum with them to the Mountain. Daylight is in third place, followed by Scuderia Cavallo Ferro, Boost Juice Motorsport, and BLAT Racing rounding out the top 5. Lego Racers and Sparklehorse Racing also appear in the Top Ten for the first time this year.
Pinnacle Motorsport are on the charge! The much maligned perennial Battle of the Mods backmarker gained substantial ground on the other Mods to be just 958 points back after Sandown, despite still being anchored in 74th place overall. Diet Coke Racing still lead, but after another poor showing CelciusSport have crept to within 108 points of the Bragging Rights

With the big race only a few weeks away, the team has come good at the right time, "I think it's good we picked an enduro line-up this year", said Bahodie, "Seton looks set to take out the big one this year, and we'll be right there with him!"
