There is a possibility you may be able to add Danica Patricks name to your list soon. She was in the garage of Nascar driver Rusty Wallace during testing today and he offered her a ride.

Alex Barron also will drive in the Rolex 24 hrs. I think he will be with Findlay Motorsports????
Since the IRL's season will not start until late March this year, I hope that some IRL drivers will actually compete in a "REAL" sportscar race this year -- the 12 Hours of Sebring.... As a fan of many types of racing, I particularly like the American Le Mans Series (as if you couldn't tell from my signatures).... I do not like the DP Proto-turtles...and I feel that Grand Sham is nothing more than contrived "Racer-Tainment".... They had to drop the AGT class, because a Mustang on Steroids was as fast or faster than the DPs in the first season of competition....they hamstrung that class so badly with reduced fuel tanks, extra weight, etc., in order to drive them out of the sport...just because they wanted to showcase the DPs... Sorry for the rant... the 24 Hours of Daytona may have some "International" names and such on lineups, but only 3 European-based teams are competing in it this year...when there were dozens before the switch to the DP formula... Those European sportscar teams now race in the Mil Milhas Brasileiras instead.... What once was a great endurance sportscar race has become a shadow of its former self... It is a shame...IMO |

I wouldn't want to watch "everyone who is anyone" in sportscar racing competing in 3-wheeled ice-cream carts, either... I'd much rather watch them drive "real" prototypes, as well as GT1 cars... I will see many of those same drivers at Sebring in March But the cars they will be driving will be far above hat the "crowds' will see at Daytona at the end of the month |

Grand Am had 34 (yes THIRTY-FOUR!) prototypes on track at Test Days last week...some of which (FabCar) are could actually be considered attractive. The objective is quality cost-effective and level competition with lots of pit stops. i was once a nay-sayer as well, but am beginning to come around. The technology exists to turn 300mph laps - but to what end? And do we really want to see 'supermarques' (take your pick) dominate a series for a few years then drop out? The Rolex 24 should be worth watching this year. Just one man's opinion.

Like in every other form of US based motor racing, it has nothing to do with European and for that matter the rest of the world rules. Even in Kart racing, the Yanks change thing around. The only person who got it right is Don Panoz! But at the end of the day, look at the driver line-ups in DP....Maybe, everyone else got it wrong and they got it right? Na!

I didn't care much for Grand Am in the past, but it has grown on me. That the cars are closed-cockpit ones might have something to do with it, since I have a huge dislike for open-cockpit ones (and have had so since 2001 because of what happened to Michele Alboreto and Jeff Clinton).
As for the topic at hand, I think the many crossovers, from IndyCar and elsewhere, is great. Hopefully Eurosport will show some highlights from the race later on. |

There is a decent IRL presence in another famous endurance race the weekend of Jan. 21 as well...
The "Mil Milhas Brasileiras" at Interlagos in Brazil Among those who will participate are current drivers Tony Kanaan, Helio Castroneves, Fillipe Giaffone, and Vitor Meira, plus former drivers like Raul Boesel, Nelson Piquet and the Fittipaldis |

You've missed Dario Franchitti, Adrian Fernandez, and Scott Sharp, no? And I stopped double-checking with those.
