Your Helmet

I'd love to see what peoples' helmets look like. Either describe or post a picture of.

My old helmet was a copy of Alex Zanardi's. However, I changed the red & grey stripes on this helmet to green.

Seeing as I ran out of money to continue racing, maybe I should have kept my old white job, instead of the custom job.

Well, I haven't gotten the resources to even get close to a race track yet, but I've got way too much free time, and designed a helmet. Rather simple, but I like it. I _hope_ it's unique!

Here is mine... Not getting too much use at the mo, but I hope to be out again soon!

Not quite sure how I came up with the design, just messing around on the computer, adding shapes here and shapes there, a dab of red, bit of blue, yellow and green and hey presto!

That's a really nice looking helmet, Andy. Looks a little like Jenson Button's.

That looks pretty sharp marcus. I don't think it's that plain. The lid on the bloke next to you is more plain.

Beautiful helmet, David.

I am lucky enough to be friends with Bruno Theil of Artmix (http://www.artmixaerografia.com.br), so he did mine - and I am quite pleased with it!

The original concept was based on Stefan Bellof's - my racing hero - model, and from there the ideas evolved. I wanted a rather "classic" casco - not a cartoonish one. The main color is green, my favorite color (and the color of my soccer club too, maybe not coincidentally...).

I replaced Stefan's yellow and red stripes by gold and cherry ribbons, and then we twisted and intertwined them. The 3-D effect obtained with shadows is eye-popping.

But the coolest thing is that the helmet is actually assimetric: the left side is different from the right, because all ribbons twist around the main longitudinal axis of the helmet. I liked the original Heinz-Harald Frentzen helmet, which was assimetric too, and I tried a similar effect - albeit in a more subtle manner, as the whole concept was to have an overall "classic" lay-out.

Bruno convinced me to chrome the helmet prior to painting - and wow, the thing shines like a lightbulb! The result is quite outlandish, as two tones of green were used - the one at thee on top and the bottom of the helmet is darker than the one at the face and back of the head. And the final touch Aere alesi-like rain drops on these green areas.

Unfortunately I am not racing now because of my business schedule (and of my upcoming wedding...) but in 2004 things will be different, oh yeah.

Cheers,

Muzza

Nice helmet, Muzza.]

Reminds me a little of Thierry Boutsen's design but not in the colours though.

All above are beautifull lids.

I have promised myself a good paint job for my helmet when i win my first race. I'm sticking to it.
