V8 Supercar driver and team owner Paul Morris has masterminded a recruiting coup by securing fellow-Queenslander Steve Ellery as his team-mate for this year’s championship endurance races at Sandown and Bathurst.

Why wouldn't Gurr & Coulthard share their own car?

Actually thinking about it, a better deal would have been Ellery to drive the second car for the full season, and let Gurr & Coulthard have a full season in the Fujitsu series. Obvious reason for that not to happen is the $$$ from Gurr & Coulthard. Still, Ellery would finish a lot higher than either of those two would.

Maybe he might have a drive after each of the kids have had a go, if they do too much damage.

Either way, great to see Ellery back in a Holden.

like Ellery doesn't do any damage himself! He's the biggest crasher and sand trap visiter V8 Supercars has ever seen. I was told by a 888 employee that the $$ he brought to the team didn't even pay for his crashes so it wasn't worth having anymore!

Actually, the driver lost the gig for reasons other than this.. but why let that get in the way of a good laugh?

This is a good move, I was surprised how close in size Mr Ellery and Mr Morris actually were...

It would be good for them to share a seating position as well... and in the right car, with the right engine, with the right amount of luck, there is some tremendous speed to be unlocked...

And you have this on great authority DK, I was told this and I was told that bla bla bla, Just running a guy down out of jelousy are we. He crashed twice last year, and if you listen to the people I talk to and beleive they would know, Adelaide wasnt all his fault. Please put your money where your mouth is and enlighten us about these sand trap visits, I attend all races and I dont remember many, More from Lowndes actually!

I think this is a great combo for the Enduros and they will surprise a few.

The deal with the second car for Alan and FAB was put together at the end of last year with the help of Sirromet and TKR .Steve was not on the radar at this time.

The main series car split between the two lads is better deal than than a two car development series team when you take the tega start money into consideration. They also get more racing miles .

They seem to like the "Jacques Villeneuve" approach to race suits, with plenty of room to move in them...

I always thought highly of Ellery, but at the final safety car at Bathurst last year, with arguably one of the best mounts out there and the hopes of all Ford fans on his shoulders, he showed his inablility to run at the front and slipped silently into a distant third, hence I'm quite happy to see him running in the red ranks this year.

And have you ever tried to find out why Phase. The gearbox was shagged and jumping out of all gears and he had to drive around one handed for the entire last stint while holding the car into gear. Try driving Aussies hardest track one handed and see how good you are. Maybe be dissapointed with the team for building a car that couldnt compete at the end. To hold on for third was a fantastic effort given the circumstances.

Thats what I remember, the gearbox was jumping out of gear and he had to hold it in gear. Not a bad drive considering, and as an enduro driver he has a handy little resume over the past few years.
As a red supporter, I for one won't mind him being in Red.
