Powernights
Regs are out for this venture and include Formula Ford as an invited category amongst many others. First category to provide 25 entries gets a slot on the given day. 2 events at Silverstone plus one at Donington which might be the only Donington event for FF1600 this year. Anyone up for it? Full days testing plus evening racing for £275 I believe. Might be tempting......

what a great idea. Is there a class for 1800cc slicks and wings single seaters?

They're not going to attract too many Formula Fords if they start letting allsorts in!
I've got a Dallara F304 with a Swindon-FORD engine, surely that must be eligible? There'll be someone wanting to enter a Benetton Zetec-R shortly... |

Not quite John, A van diemen Formula 4 is 90% based on a Formula Ford Zetec. Both the cars you mentioned above are in no way shape or form related or close to a Formula Ford. An F4 is the same speed as a Duratec FF and you would be able to race that? |

would have been better to have the events on a Friday as they are promoting the event with aftershow party etc. But most people will have work in the morning so will need to shoot off after the races. At least on a Friday if you want a few drinks afterwards to could leave in the morning if you wanted to?

Great idea but 8 races in 2.5 hours !!! 18.75 mins a race!!
EG 11 mins for a FF1600 race plus warming up slowly down lap grid formation got to be another 5 minutes. Add some cars in the gravel and of odd race stoppage and it will go out the window. And on a long lap like Donnington haven't got a pray. |

John, I see your point. Dallara are now making Formula Fords in Germany aren't they, and you have a Ford engine....all you need now is a driver (such as me!) who has only ever raced Formula Ford before - seems to be within the rules as far as I can see!!!! |

We'd need to remove the wings, either in the workshop or perhaps you could do it on the track? |

POWERnights official launch was last night and the categories that will race at each event were announced. FFord have been allocated races at each of the three events.

regards the almost fictional Dallara F306 based Formula DMSB (or whatever the intials are) it was going to be setup with the revamped Cooper Series in the USA but that died. A car was shown at Road Atlanta last year - simply a F306 with no airbox. Looked cool.
Anyway back on topic - I still have huge doubts about powernights, I hope I'm wrong but I can see it failing horribly. |

Formula DMSB is/was a German formula.
Anyway I think sense has now prevailed entry-wise and Powernights Formula Ford is only FF1600, so I'm sure entries will now come in good numbers. I know some others will be disappointed but a lot of FF1600 drivers wouldn't have wanted to race in some sort of Ford Libre event. Last edited by JohnMiller; 5 Jul 2007 at 09:52. |

I have heard today that they have opened up the FF1600 class to all single seaters to increase the numbers. Can anyone confirm this?

I think the Caterham and Saloons race has been combined at the first meeting, so I wouldn't be surprised..

Seems this decision has not been made. But it maybe shortly dependant on a review of entries.
Anybody interested with an FF1600 should tell the BRSCC now! |

John I spoke with the BRSCC today and they said they it was true. Jamie Jardine has entered a Duratec and I was going to enter an F4 at a shake down after a new engine.
To be fair John FF1600's are not that much slower and there would be no lapping in 10 min races |

Still no interest in Libre and will likely withdraw if confirmed.
I wonder if we still had the old ff1600.co.uk to publicise events if more people would have known about it? Last edited by JohnMiller; 24 Jul 2007 at 12:08. |

The BRSCC have just told me that it is definitely only FF1600 Kent cars.
Adam - very funny indeed. Although the current version is better than the previous one! |

Iain Brown has just told me it is exclusively for FF1600 - already an entry in the mid teens - and I am chasing up the North West mob to put the 'suvveners' in their place
