Camathias...
Can't even get out of pit lane without running into two other cars!
No matter how you try to justify it, there are a lot of pay hacks who have no place on a race track |

[sarcasm]OMG, a driver who almost had a collision in the pitlane with another car, that has never happened before![/sarcasm]
Sorry, but I'm getting a little tired of the hobby of driver bashing on the boards, whether it be Cart, F1 or Other. I saw that too, it was a mistake, but something I've seen guys like Fernandez, Da Matta, Moore and Andretti make as well... and I'm sure many others have done it too. As for Camathias, he does seem a little out of his depths, but let's give him a few more races to see if he can put something together. Anyway, if he goes, there is no driver that will step in take his place. So, we'll have 18 cars again. |

Jay, it's always "a few more races" with you.
Matsu****a had _years_ and never improved an iota! Yeah, there's no one else to fill the seat, but that doesn't make Camathias any less of a pay hack. Last edited by Lee Janotta; 4 May 2003 at 16:40. |

I just don't see the point in needlessly bashing drivers after only 3 races. Especially for the kind of mistake I've seen experienced veterans make.
These guys have had 3 races in Champcars. I don't think you'll find a driver at any level that would feel 3 races is enough to class drivers as unfit. Granted Camathias and Lavin have not been very impressive thus far, but to suddenly say they "have no place on a race track" because of a petty mistake is ludicrous. Many drivers did not come to form until halfway through or even late in their rookie years. I'm not saying they'll be stars or even that they'll be around at teh end of the season, but at least give the guys a fair chance. |

I am sure Dennis Vitolo would have been better than Senna had he gotten a few more races.

Lee, you seem to be having a bad day. Give Joel some more time to smooth out. He might mature just fine.

It's true that some of the rookies this year don't really belong, or have the credentials to drive at this level, which IMO is important.
But I agree with Jay in that they're here now, and it's important that the teams commit to their drivers and the fans commit to supporting the series. |

This is why the old way was best, paying sponsor monies to teams instead of this "rent-a-hack" style of financial support.

Useless thread in my opinion. And corkholio's comment is the "Useless reply of the year".

It can't be that useless if you felt the need to reply, nevertheless keeping it going. Nice job contradicting yourself though.

I don't know...it just seems as if some people take driver bashing as a hobby. I don't understand it, they're probably pretty pessimistic people in general and well, I'm just glad I don't have to work with any of them.

This thread is more about bashing each other than a critical discussion regarding the performance of the afore mention CART series competitor!!
Lets step back and do this topic some justice. In my opinion(by definition, an expression of ignorance), The team should bring in a ringer. A croud pleaser. My list- Papis, Gidley, E.Irvine, Alesi.... |

veeten, at last we agree on something!
Apexx: Papis'd be a good choice, I really hope he'll still get that ride with Emmo's team. Gidley's not a ringer by any stretch. Irvine I could definitly see, though no one could afford him. Alesi's DTM ride with Mercedes conflicts, otherwise he'd be perfect here. |

I noticed that you guys who are always bashing the drivers haven't given Yoong any praise for qualifying 13th

So he's the best of the pay drivers Dov? No real accomplishment with a Lola.
He's an ex-F1 driver, dammit! Last edited by Lee Janotta; 5 May 2003 at 00:36. |

Sounds like we all have too many nerves and too much time to anticipate tomorrow's race. Lets kick back, be a little nicer to each other, and cut out the sniping attacks that only cause ill will.
And, lets all enjoy the racing at Brands Hatch! |

If Bourdais was chugging around 5 secs off the pace like any of Coyne's fine selection of arrive-and-drive dudes, I am sure he would have more points from attrition alone than, god forbid, when he actually has enough talent to race with the real professionals at actual race pace and make a mistake...

Alex Yoong qualified well in 13th place, so you felt you had to snap at someone else this time, Lee?
