V8 Team's Illegal Test Probe
Is that like Cartman's Anal Probe?
Anyway, article is Here Given that we have a fair idea who this team is, it is interesting that AVESCO wont comment on the speculation.... I expect then the truth to come out in one of the motorsport publications next week, it would have missed Auto Fiction's cutoff for this week.... |

I thought this was going to be about an illegal sensor (someone else caught doing something to the ecu).
What would an appropriate penalty be for this if found guilty? Found this line interesting "The Daily Telegraph understands that a senior official saw at first hand the team personnel with a V8 Supercar." If this was the case, wouldn't he have stopped it immediately? |

unmarked cars. brings forth the question about whether or not they were registered V8SUPERCAR's. If they were not, it isn't illegal.

How stupid can this team be, for god sake just stick a third seat in the thing and call it a ride day.
Works for everyone else. |

Given previous breach of rules incidents...won't they just be fined $5000 and told not to do it again.......

Makes you wonder if this team has been testing illegally previously without getting caught.

I can confirm that there WAS a team there at Woomera last week. A mate was down there with the RAAF last week and thought I might be interested. Be interesting to see the punishment handed out. Will it be $5000 (TIC) or will we see the first implementation of the new rules from Oran Park? Particularly as this is a first-of-type (Unlike the PWR/SBR situation)I reckon we will see a rocket launched at the team.

You ALMOST have to feel sorry for a team that has gone to the trouble that this team has.
Go to a place in the middle of nowhere, cover truck sponsers and team names with tape, cover car signage up, even cover the team shirts with race tape to hide their names. Only for a fan to recognise them, and make one phone call to someone that he new had the contacts to get the news to the proper channels. The team was definately there. The action by AVESCO was quick, when you consider that the first call wasn't made until about lunch time. It was late afternoon by the time the proper channels had the news, and it was the very next morning they where busted. Congrats to the fan that did the right thing in keeping these teams honest, and well done to AVESCO for reacting to news they only recieved word of mouth and investigated with no more proof than that. Now if only they get punished the way they should. |

Hmmm, a lot of first time posters on this thread. Wonder if a few of the other teams are voicing there opinion ?

I have read the manual 15 times and I know that eevryone is talking 250k fines but for the life of me I cannot see where that could happen. The fine for unregulated testing is 2ok plus loss of 150 points. maybe they figure its worth it.

A thought - everyone seems to assume it's TD. But one poster said the TD transporter never left Adelaide. It was, after all, the week after Mallala. Could have been anyone.
Now, who would have been at Mallala that also runs in the Big Show? Off the top of my head (apologies for any ommissions and this is not mean to be an accusation...) DJR BJR SCAR Actually, that might be just about it. And no, I have no knowledge - but I'll be trying to find out! Bruce Moxon |

Well, I guess if the livery was covered up, it might NOT have been Dynamic, and the witnesses might have guessed wrong.
But I doubt it was DJR or BJR etc. I mean surely it would be pretty obvious that the car was a holden not a ford? And why would a team travel interstate to do secret runs? SO lets just say "it could hav been any one of the Holden teams, and most likely one who would have been in Sth Aust anyway" so, whos left? Last edited by bathurst77; 24 Aug 2004 at 04:09. |

Gee this is a hard one........
some one has said that they heard a rumour and its only a rumour that simin Wills was driving a car that belonged to the imrie franchise, and I stress its only a rumour. Personally I dont think they would be that stupid, but thats just my opinion |

Both You Yangs and LangLang (where DO they get these names) are in Victoria. Both are crawling with freelance photographers hoping for shots of new cars so neither would be real logical for secret testing.
Gibson's got pinged a few years ago at an airport too - got docked a test day was about all that happened to them. Testing restrictions are silly anyway. I say let them test all they want, but don't issue any more tyres. Bruce Moxon |
