M.Lowe should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Super national S40's whats the spec of them

Does anyone know what the spec of a S40 Super National Volvo is ie transmission, back axle and who makes the body panels for them.

It would be good to see them over here with British drivers as they seem a good car

Won't these cars eventually be replaced by the new Division 2 RWD cars, or at least compete head to head with them in national series?

Cannot use them in Britain because they do not use orignal engine bulkheads.

No Supernationals and the new RWD class ( div 1b !! ) are completely different cars. Although I suppose they will be seen racing against each other in the Danish and German championships.

There are no supernationals in Germany.

The engines are mostly build by Ingvar Gunnarsson (website)from Sweden. He build also complete cars.

This guy is from Denmark. (just like Peder T. Jensen, also Volvo)
He can compete in Germany but is not as fast as the Scandinavian drivers.

I think they use 2.8 Volvo engines most of them 2 valve per cilinder, some of them use throttle bodies en some use carburators. Transmission is of an old school Volvo (can't remember which one). Power is over 280 bhp, weight is around 1.000 kg I think.

I tell you what I was at a grass meeting the ither day and there was a guy there in a Starlet, was a big money car and on the grille it said Volvo Evo!

I reckon he must be using one of the rallycross engoines in that car! The class allows any motor in any car and people are using over bored PIntos and 16v Vauxhalls, but that Volvo motor can go out to 3.2 and well over 300 brake! Sounded lovely albeit very low revving, giving weight to the fact it must be a big bore lump.
I think in the Norwegian classes the same thing applies as you see Golfs, Escorts, Focuses and 206's plus many others in the same class, maybe there they all use a similar engine and like our spaceframe classes just drop whatever shell they want round it, good idea!

Norwegian Kjell Arne Smerud's Supernational Impreza looks exactly like a WRC car. Infact its rear wheel drive and is powered by a Volvo S40 engine.

Why does it feel that once again, Eurpoe have the right idea with @rse out, sideways, crowd entertaining cars - and yet we can't have them over here because "they don't run with original bulkheads"...........

WGAS about bulkheads?

Well they are not European they are Scandinavian class...
It is like the same idea as the previous GB supercars, with their tubulair frames like the ex Gollop 306. Very nice to look at it, but non-legal for ERC...

It's good so keep it this way

I was at some races the last 3 years in the UK and i can tell you all:
Rallycross is good the way it is in the UK!

Great supercar action with "old" supercars like the RS200, 6R4, Ex Gollop 306... and the "modern" supercars like the Xsara's, Astra, Focus, Puma, Lancer...

Also Supermodified is great.

You not always have to follow Europe to be good.

Not all UK drivers can race in Europe and vice versa, but who would do this on a regular basis????

And if you want to come over to let say Belgium, contact the organisation and tell them about your plans, i'm sure they let you race together with the locals or in a class of your own if you come with some more drivers.

Just don't expect they are as friendly as in the UK, ( Croft, Lydden...)

£34.000 I think that converts too. Not to bad a price, I hope Holte stays in the sport he's a fantastic young driver.
