Gran Turismo Racing Series 2

That's right everybody, it's time to begin the long awaited second season of The Official 10-Tenths Motorsport Gran Turismo Racing Series!
Welcome everyone to Season 2 of the Gran Turismo Racing Series. Throughout the off season, many competiors in Season 1 and some new competitors have been discussing what could be done to make this series more exciting. There have been many, many suggestions as to what can be done to improve the current formula, and some of these have been taken into account. Some however, did not make the final cut (so to speak) and some rules I have formulated myself.

Before we begin the proceedings, let's half a small recap of Season 1. The Gran Turismo Racing Series started with a small amount of competitors racing around the daunting Nurburgring. From there the series expanded to include 12 players, racing around 15 different tracks, ending at the challenging El Capitan. It was trevisio who ended up on the top step of the podium, and this year he will be the man everyone is chasing.

GRAN TURISMO RACING SERIES
RULES
1. CARS
Players may choose from any of the following cars to compete in. You may, however, change cars during the season if you wish.
The list of eligible cars are:
  • Ford Focus Rally Car '99
  • Ford Escort Rally Car '98
  • Citroen Xsara Rally Car '99
  • Peugeot 206 Rally Car '99
  • Lancia Delta HF Integrale Rally Car '92
  • Mitsubishi Lancer Evoloution Super Rally Car '03
  • Mitsubishi Lancer Evoloution IV Rally Car '97
  • Subaru Impreza Rally Car '01
  • Subaru Impreza Rally Car '03
  • Subaru Impreza Rally Car '99
  • Subaru Impreza Rally Car Prototype '01
  • Toyota Celica GT-Four Rally Car (ST185) '95
  • Toyota Celica GT-Four Rally Car (ST205) '95
  • Toyota Corolla Rally Car '98
  • Hyundai Accent Rally Car '01
2. RACES
The following rules will apply during all races:
  • All races will be race in Arcade Mode. Races will be run in Single Race mode.
  • You may use either automatic or manual transmission.
  • You may use SOFT, MEDIUM or HARD tyres only. Super Soft and Super Hard tyres are not permitted.
  • You may Quick Tune your car to change Power/Weight/Top Speed etc.
3. POINTS AND CHAMPIONSHIP
The points system for the GTRS will be as follows:
  • 1st: 15 Points
  • 2nd: 12 Points
  • 3rd: 10 Points
  • 4th: 8 Points
  • 5th: 6 Points
  • 6th: 4 Points
  • 7th: 2 Points
  • 8th: 1 Point
As well as the Points Championship, the Time Stoppers Championship returns in Season 2. However, the overall winner of the GTRs will be decided on the player with the most points, not an average of the two championships.
4. ENTERING / SENDING IN TIMES
Season 2 of the GTRS will begin on Tuesday, June 5. On this date the entire calender will be revealed. Entries will be open from now until that time. To enter, simply post in this thread your name, team name and initial car choice. If you wish you may also PM me these details.
An example of your entry form would be this:
Chatters
Chatters Motorsport
Subaru Impreza Rally Car '99
Once each round begins on Tuesday, you will have until the following Monday to PM your time for the race. Times sent in late will be penalised. When you PM me your time, please include the following information:
  • Name
  • Car Choice
  • Circuit
  • Total Time
So, an example would be this:
Chatters
Ford Escort Rally Car '98
El Capitan
13:45:654
Or something like that.
So folks, those are the rules! Please be warned however that they may be changed at any time, in which case I will PM Spudgun and Pirenzo and let them know that this post needs to be changed accordingly.
So, good luck, happy racing, and get entering!

Totaled Motorsports
Lancia Delta HF Integrale Rally Car '92

Totaled Motorsports will take part in this years GTRS after not being bothered last year, looking foward to some good races! (hopefully Citte di Arai) Nickyf1 will be using a wheel with manual gears for the season as it is the only way he can play GT4. The Team will be sponsered by Martini.

See you at the podium!

Will this be on tracks where the cars do not hit the rev limiter, or however you want to put it? Cos on long straights that will get a little annoying...

adjusting top speed stops the car hitting the rev limiter

That was me I think. I never said it wouldn't prevent you hitting the rev limiter. What I said was that every car appears to have a theoretical maximum top speed which no end of top speed tweaking can help you break. So you may yet be reduced to pootling along the Mulsanne straight.

Oh right, sorry.

I'm waiting to make my choice, I need to test all these cars.

I don't - I'm slow in all of them

I fired up the PS2 for the first time in ages last night and put in a few laps (only about half an hours worth). It did bring up a question though - we're allowed to use soft, medium or hard tyres - can we mix these? (eg. Soft on the front / hard on the back).

Rockmunky Motorsport regret to inform you that due to technical difficulties, the team wil be unable to compete in the Championship. However, it is hoped that the team will be able to rectify the technical issues presented before us, and will be able to enter around late June/ early July, insurance claim pending

Opposite Lock Racing look forward to another season in the GTRS although a lack of testing is expected to limit the teams competitiveness. The team is planning to use the Hyundai Accent WRC for the full season as they already have some experience running this car.

Good luck to all competitors - bring it on!

Certainly can Bert!

So, does everyone like this series' set of rules? A bit more flexibility, especially in tyre choice, which was what everyone was crying out for!

Rules look great to me. The tyre choice will be an interesting variable and nice that there's a very wide car choice, although that might keep me tied to my PS2 when it gets unpacked (moving house at the mo) for a couple of weeks

Probably not going to be able to make a car choice much before the calendar is released. If I need to pick one beforehand I'll shamelessly copy trevisio and go with the 03 Subaru but I'd rather get some testing time in and then choose. Anyone have a problem if I don't pick a car until late next week?

RE Gran Turismo Series

Hi guys. I'm from Australia & would like to compete in this championship. I have competed in many series on the Rally Forum using TRD3 but I would love to try a series using GT4. At this stage I'm just trialling a few cars. I'll post my official entry next time.

I tested a few cars on medium tyres. It was very close between the fastest 2 (which were fastest by some considerable margin), but I found the Impreza 03 more fun/less understeery.
