2016 BTCC news & rumours

Just for you 962 fan

Simon Belcher saying he wants Handy to expand to a two car team today http://www.btcccrazy.co.uk/btcc/hand...n-aspirations/

In previous news Adam Morgan has extended his deal with Wix and Andrew Jordan will continue to be backed by Pirtek...but who knows in what car. Rob Austin Racing are switching from the old A4s and building two brand new cars whilst Power Maxed will stick with the Cruze's for another season.

Honda are committed and one would imagine they'll field Shedden and Neal again, but perhaps Jack Clarke in a third car as he's signed as their development driver. Motorbase continue their quest for a title sponsor, hopefully they'll complete a full season in 2016.

Team BMR will, one would presume, be back but with the driver lineup still unknown. I'd guess Eurotech will return as well with Depper and Smith.

Hopefully an exciting season, and a good few rumours to come (Just not Kia again!)

In all seriousness, Matt James seemed to indicate in his column that there was genuine interest in the series from manufacturers and that 2016 could be a 'mouth-watering' prospect. Make of that what you will...

If VW do enter, I wonder what the response would be...

...at least it would save some face in the UK market...

All the usual easily enraged, anti-car suspects would no doubt be fuming (wahay!) But as you say it could help them rebuild their image in the UK. In Plato and Turkington they'd also have two of the best drivers in the Championship and guaranteed coverage.

Wonder who else could be getting works backing. Matt James isn't usually far off with these things, Motorbase maybe with the new Focus RS...or RAR bringing in a new manufacturer? 888 to leave MG?

It's going to be a fun few months...until the lack of racing because so tedious the Kia rumours start again!

Honda with Jack Clarke I'd assume. Maybe another young driver there as well, Jack Goff or Tingram?

I wonder if any teams have been knocking on Infiniti's door. I mean, they were interested enough to get involved with SOPR but results didn't go the way they wanted so if a big enough team comes in....?

...well, there's my theorising, anyway. I'll head back into my box now until media day

I reckon Type R's. I assume the budgets there and imagine what Depper or Smith could do with reverse grid results in 2016... I expect if it's that sort of news it will be MN.

Or they have a new team cat.

Oh, wish I hadn't read this before bed.

No doubt they'll have a new sponsor for the inside of the left front wheelarch of Jeff Smith's Civic...God I'm getting cynical in my old age.

Type R for Eurotech in 2016 - possibly three of them. Jack Clarke anyone?

That is exciting news! It would make sense if the third car was Clarke and Eurotech almost became the Toro Rosso of Honda.

You beat me to it on naming Clarke as the likely 3rd driver, though anyone with backing would surely eye that seat as one of the better options for 2016, providing they (Eurotech) can get a TBL. We already have AmD in line to pick one up and Handy stating they want one for a 2nd car, Team HARD were chasing a 2nd one at the start of the year (though after the season plans may if changed) and we haven't mentioned anything from the 'big teams' yet!
