Zolder 24hrs,22-23 August.
Anyone know were to find an entrylist of this race? I'm gonna visit it this year for the first time and basically know very little about it.

No list but an article that mentions a lot of probables: Click here(it's in French, though)
I've read (specualtions) about a few more this week... Rumor has it, there will be two Oreca Vipers and Cor Euser with his Marcos. Can't wait for it, as it will be my fist 24hour race I see live at the track! |

I sure hope so. Looks like they've made an important step towards the original Belcar-spirit this year and away from Ratel's emasculated GT3-version of it - I am already wondering what 2010 will bring, I hope they'll return to the old 125 minutes race format for the regular rounds and a 4-6hr race at the Spa Euro Race.

Some very fun and interesting cars on there from some old-school competitors like Prospeed and AD Sport who were rather left behind by the GT3 era. The entry for that, the 'premiere', class, is disappointing. 10 cars max?!

There was an open test day at Zolder yesterday and teams usually use those as a preparation for the 24hours.
Pictures can be found here There's a number of GT4 cars in those pics. As the European GT4 series is a support series of the 24hrs, I guess these cars are probably not testing for the 24 but for their championship races. And we can of course also rule out the F3-car, the 935 and that black Can-Am-ish machine. |

Kuismanen is apparently partnering up with Duncan Huisman, Erik Behrens and Karl Hansenbichler for this race.

Another Viper GTS-R has been added for AD Sport, as well as a second (the first being from Prospeed) 996 RSR for MPM by Verbist!
Sounds good! |

The hiatus in FIA GT in August is helping the entry list a bit but it seems more of a Belgian/Dutch affair mostly with a few Germans thrown in. Can't expect much with our current economic situation.
The classes remind me of the Nurburgring 24 hours. The cars go up to GT3-equivalent? But then there's a few Viper GTS-Rs |

Belgian GT, or Belcar as it was known until a few years ago, was quite a disaster this year and already in a bit of trouble the year before. The GT3-rules had brought the series some good competition in the first two years, but they had failed to produce the 40+ car fields the series had been known for before and afaik spectator numbers had also declined. Earlier this year SRO sold the rights to promote the series to the organizers of the rival Dunlop Endurance Cup (A series with mixed GT and Touring Car fields) and the Belgian Touring Car Series. For next year their plan is to have but one series for touring cars and GTs, each with an "Open" philosophy. But as a stop gap for the 24hours, which would've otherwise looked at at 20 car field they decided to open the race for cars from all classes of the three series. And that's why there are all those classes and vastly different cars. Some classes have no cars in them, though, so it's not really a 12 class race. For another forum, using displacement and laptimes as criteria, I organized the cars into 6 classes, i.e. the system Belcar used before 2000: Quote:

Only 29 cars on the entry list now. The Euser Marcos and BMW are gone, as is the AD Porsche 964

Thanks for the explanation. A bit easier to understand now!
Shame about the Marcos. It's a tale of survival this season everywhere. And it's still good to see quite a few entries at the different races. Bolds well for when the economy recovers. |

Looking at this entry list, it looks very similar to Britcar 24hr, which will be back on next year. They could boost quality and entry, surely, by having a strong link between the two?

First practise is underway - there seems to be no regular HTML/Java/Flash-T&S, but you can download a Timing Client here,
Suppossedly the same as used by the teams. 23 cars have already turned a lap, let's see how many it'll be at the end of the session. |

The Opel Astra in GT format looks rather funny. I thought the Scirocco at the N24 was funny. The Astra beats it.
Nice to see those bulky Vipers driving around still. And the Ford Mustang is really nice: http://www.24u.be/picture_gallery/2/180/20.jpg |
