MGCC - Oulton 7th May

Hi,

I just thought I would stick up a quick thread about this one as it is going to be my first 'proper' day as a Marshal and I am very much looking forward to it. I'm also hoping that it is more exciting than it was on Deer Leap for Modified Live for the majority of the day!

Are the MGCC a good club to marshal for?

Anyway, I look forward to meeting more friendly faces on Saturday.

Oh, and I have a spare ticket if anyone would like it?

Yes, MGCC are one of the best clubs you can marshal for.

As for the standard of racing, it will be an improvement over 'Modified Live'.
I look forward to seeing you on Saturday and bring plenty of cakes for the Post Chief

I've enjoyed the MG Car Club when they've come to Silverstone. So I'm making this weekend one of my away trips this year - it'll be my first visit to Oulton.

A voucher... Goodies...? I have no voucher, but would like one if you could point me in the direction to claim one...

I am looking forward to a good day of racing now followed by a good day at the Northwich Thundersprint on Sunday.

Re the vouchers that Mr Brand is refering to, If you marshalled for MGCC last year at any of their events they should have sent a voucher out pre Christmas along with the volunteering form for this year, This voucher is redeamable against a flask and a club badge at sign on for any MGCC events this year

A good club to work with and usually some good grids and racing, i have been a spectator for the last couple of years but am on the bank for this one with the "grumpy teenager" and the more junior one is in the paddock

Racing Marshal

Having just looked at the entry lists for this event i have spotted one of the orange brigade from Oulton out to play in the Cockshoot cup, a certain Mr Russel Hunter is listed in his MGB

Can I wish him the best of luck and hopefully he wont join any of his colleagues

It will be my first event of the year due to various reasons.

I may well be after a spare ticket, if anyone has one as I only signed up last week so Im not sure I got on the list in time. Ill give it a couple of days and then panic.

Richard, Sir! I'm sure they're not too bad considering the usual MG standard, but are the entry lists looking good again??

Really appreciate the support, yes swapping my probans for a race suit Saturday. Large BMMC stickers will be located on car.
Head Gasket went on the way back from Tweeks yesterday but my dad has been amazing and fixed it today.
First ever race will be in Production class A which limits us on performance mods and most of all using List 1a tyres which is your average road tyre (Not Track day tyres either) so wont be anywhere near the front in fact if your flagging get ready with your blues for me
Will be weird racing with me mates on the bank, Thankyou all for your support.
Anyone who has a spare ticket could do with some for my family will be around for Marshals sign on in Chequers if anyone has one.
See you all Saturday!

Sadly not able to make this one, but as indicated in earlier posts, the MGCC is a fine club to Marshal for with some good clubbie racing!

thats a fairly normal occurrence, we'll just wait 'n' see what gets released next! Weather is not looking hopeful, did MG build an Ark?

Please pass on thanks

Hi

Please pass on my thanks to all who assisted me yesterday. I had an off at druids in practice resulting me skidding on my side. The response was textbook and was of the highest standard.

If anyone can tell me what happened, i would love to know!

Also if anyone knows if there were any photos taken also i would like to see them!

Congratulations also to Russell for a difficult first race in testing conditions.

Regards

Hi,

I was the IO on the post and and was taking to you in the car, as IO I thanked the team I was working with after the clear up and I will pass on your thanks if I see any of the guys and girls next week. Some of them came to check you and turn off electrics some signalled to slow the cars down once the red flags were out (as you had blocked most of the track) and some provided fire cover while the doctor checked you out.

It all happened very quick and I thought you were going to end up upside down, until something griped and slammed you back on the wheels. Initially we did not see much movement in the car but I was glad you stayed in there until everything was stopped, so thanks for that! (Nothing worse than a car blocking the track and a driver wondering around)

We were all happy to see you out later in the day.
