Lotus Cortinas
This is perhaps the nicest example we have in SA, still actively competing in Historic races -
http://www.pts106.com/Ford%20Lotus%20Cortina%201.htm I'm just wondering, since these cars were built in the UK 66 onwards (correct me if I'm wrong), surely you Brits must have some nice original Lotus Cortinas still competing in the UK? Please post links if you know of any. Cheers, Pierre M. |

There are loads Pierre.
I'm sure our historics photographer PaulSands can supply links to his shots. Paul? Perhaps put them over in the Touring/saloons thread in Motorsport art/photo forum with a link here? |

There are "fakes" as Pierre says so if you were to buy one you'd need to do a full search on the vehicle. However there are some originals still racing in the UK. |

Yes Peter! Here it is in its last moments... Great shame. Mind you I felt more sorry for Roddy Pratt's Triumph 2000. He was an innocent bystander. http://www.csccgb.co.uk/images/photos/rpexpires.jpg

they built about 3000 between early 63 and mid 66
there are more LC's around now than there where in 1966, which explains why 1200 Delux 2 doors are so scarce, all the bits are available at a price, and fakes are easy to build relatively speaking, the early A frame cars are harder to copy, but nt impossible, they where never brilliant to start with so a good welder will give the game away !!! most of the race cars have been reshelled or theyre getting thin. cutting the bulkhead/dashboard out is very dangerous . . it has this kind of job to do holding the A posts apart and the widscreen in (see the racecar safety thread !!!) now try finding a genuine early GT . . . .not easy! I'm not aware that any old racers exist anymore. |

Ouch indeed - I always wondered what happened to that Triumph 2000.
