On Sports Tonight last night, Murph confirmed that he is leaving KRT but did not say where he is going. Although the reporter did say that there were strong rumours that he going to PWR. I would put money on it

I noticed on the podium at Bathurst that 3 of the top 4 finishing drivers will be in new teams next season. Its always greener somewhere else isn't it

There's an article in this mornings Telegraph about how if Murph leaves, then Rick Kelly wants the lead drivers role, and if he doesn't get it the he will consider leaving too. Do you guys think that if Murph leaves then the valuable feedback and setup that Murph contributes will be lost to the team and Rick will be left to languish in an ordinary car or does he have what it takes?

Yup Murph said on Sports Tonight that he was leaving to join another team....Rick was dissapointed and yes wants to be #1 driver.
Well I hope Murph doesnt end up with the Luck CL had after he left a Winning HRT team for another. |

Rick had a fair bit to say at the press conference about being No 1 if Murph goes - a message to *Dad* I would say. Murph went to great pains to explain that both drivers were equal at KMart.
He has the talent - the results and now the confidence to be a top line driver. |

Whats all this talk of No.1 drivers?
This isnt Formula 1. When was the last time you saw someone pull over to let his team mate take the win? The only way i can see one driver getting preference over another is generally when a new chassis comes out. |

If Tander goes to K-Mart i dont think he would be happy with Rick as number 1 driver. I dont think any driver would be happy with rick as number 1

Every team has a number one driver, although maybe not officially, both may start equal but as the year rolls on the preference will start .
look at GRM, if anyone thinks things have been equal there they are dreamers, same at HRT,PWR,FPR,DJR,BJR. It may be just a subtle few crew menbers, a lighter front bar, slightly better engine, pit boom preference all little things but they add up over a year |

Isn't Rick the #1 driver now?
Who got the only working battery in Qualifying at Winton when both cars had their's fail? I thought this No. 1 driver **** is why Murphy was leaving in the first place though............ |

Murf got very very emotional about his 2nd Bathurst win, he may indeed be having 2nd thoughts... or regrets...
... while Mr Tander seems to get which ever drive Mr Murphy doesnt want... |

4th Bathurst win, 2nd with Kmart Racing. Hard to believe he will be leaving with the recent results at Bathurst particularly.

Holden Motorsport
Oct 13 2004 MURPHY, TANDER ON THE MOVE With the necessary paperwork now finalised, Holden V8 Supercar drivers Greg Murphy and Garth Tander have confirmed that they will switch to new teams in season 2005. With PWR Racing driver Jason Bright opting to start his own team next year, Kmart Racing’s Murphy will take his seat at PWR while Tander moves from Garry Rogers Motorsport to join Rick Kelly at Kmart. Tander, at 27, joined the Garry Rogers team as a 21-year old Formula Ford champion from Western Australia, and has occupied the seat of the #34 Repco/Valvoline/Cummins Commodore for seven years, being one of the longest team stayers of current V8 drivers, winning Bathurst in 2000 along the way. “There comes a time when you have to reassess and move on, but I guess that’s the name of the game,†said the newly married Tander. “But that’s all happening next year and my focus now is to do the job for GRM over the remaining three championship events.†Murphy, a four-times Bathurst winner as of last weekend, also cites a need to move on as the reason for change, after flying the flag for Kmart since 1999. “You need to keep fresh and up to the task in such a highly competitive environment as V8s,†The New Zealander said. “None of this will affect our performance for the remainder of the year with championship points in the balance.†Neither driver was tempted to jump the fence over to Ford during negotiations. “I guess you could say we’re both Holden blokes through and through,†Murphy said. |

PWR- Owned by Daddy DJR- Owned by Daddy BJR- Owned by Jones So do you think in the case of BJR that Jones would give preference to Bowe? Or do you think Kees Weel is going to give preference to Bright over his son? How hard is it to give them the same front bar. And even if one was slightly heavier, most cars are built underweight now so extra ballast has to be added so i dont think it would make too much difference. In reference to engines, i think they pretty much go through cycles through both the cars. And as with most teams, pit boom preference goes to whoever is ahead on the track. |

The Murphy PWR deal was signed in July. Yes he won Bathurst but PWR has the more competitive car.
