Lola LMP1 News
http://www.mulsannescorner.com/news.html
Good work as ever by Mike DSC also report the Zytek 4l V8 has been testing. No doubt its destined for the new LMP1, but would a modified version of the current LMP675 be able to run this engine in LMP1? |

Hmmm... - Zytek will know that. But my guess is that they are working on something like this for the 2006 ALMS season.

So the current car with the 4l engine for the 2006 ALMS, and a new reg/hybrid LMP1 for the LMES.
Zytek WILL need a new reg/hybrid LMP1 if they want to race at Le Mans 2006, as they have stated. |

maybe Zytek is borrowing some ideas from Creation then?
the original reynard (now DBA) was homologated and crashtested for lmp675 and 900 so maybe Zytek will modify theiĀ“r car to hybrid spec as well for 06...and enter lmp1 and thendo a new tub for 07.......at least this way around the workload is spread a little bit .... |

Creation, of course, are upgrading to a Judd V10 for their DBA4 next year.

when Creation bought the DBA there where talks about entering in LMP900 ,if i re,member correctly, but honestlyy i have not seen the relevant paperwork so i have to admit it is hearsay.(but I have read about it before, and hope it is not a mixup with the original Reynard 2k wich indeed ran as LMP900 (oreca,Johanson/matthews.....)and lmp675....
just crosschecked with mulsannescorner where you clearly can read it was planned as lmp900/675 car. If RN Motorsport has done that when reintroducing the papers I donĀ“t know. |

Well good for Creation... there are some interesting questions to be asked though: will they hybridize their car in conjunction with the Zytek factory? Will it be a GV4 or a GV5 in the back of the DBA?

hi all,
Just to answer one of your questions that you had about the car. It was originally built by IRM for YGK and the chassis was crash tested to LMP900 and LMP675 regulations and so with the 4 litre ZG408 will be able to comply with LMP900. Hope this helps Just to answer another question - GV4 is your answer. |

That is my initial thinking too, especially after creation jumped ship and installed the Judd in the back of their DBA and revised their rear aero independent of the factory.

Says in Autosport:
The revisions will be under taken by KW Motorsport, which was responsible for the low drag aero package this year. |

Why not put the 5 Litre GV5 in, instead of the GV4 ? Pescarolo don't seem to have any problems with the GV5. Pretty quick down Mulsanne this year, quite a bit quicker than any GV4's. Any theories on why they would prefer the 4L over the 5L, or is it just Money ?

It was quicker principally because of the advantages inherent in running as a hybrid

The Courage C60 Hybrid ran a GV4 at Le Mans this year which was not restricted and had second quickest time in pre-qualifying . Unrestricted cuz they ran it as a hybrid . All the other Judd GV4 (RfH & Rollcentre) were running in LMP1 and hence were restricted cuz they wernt hybrid cars .

Courage with the 4L was a hybrid aswell though, and they were well down on the Pescarolo down Mulsanne. I can't understand why teams use the older 4L , when the 5L has a lot more torque and puts the power down out of the corners better. Why would Judd do a 5L if it was no improvement atall on the old motor ? Does it cost a lot more ?

The GV5 is also higher , maybe that has something to do with it ? I would have gone the GV5 route too , i would also have thought it is a better endurance engine , lower revving .

Martin Short was thinking of installing a GV5 in his Dallara's when he first got them but testing time before Sebring didnt allow for much testing . maybe he could answer that question for us if he looks at this thread ?

The bigger the engine capacity the quicker it uses the fuel.
Speed Vs number of pit stops I guess. |

But, lower reving. Revs use fuel. The GV5 also has smaller rectrictor (passes less air, and consequently less fuel to mix with that air), it makes power lower in rev range.
