Reims Gueux Revival Movement

I work here in the UK for a champagne house, but have been asked by a French colleague living in Gueux, near Reims, to help. She has lived in Gueux all her life and lately has put together a group of locals all trying to launch a revival weekend at Gueux to bring together anyone who remembers the days of the French GP and the Gueux 12 hours race there. Anyone visiting the village will know how sad and decrepit the old stand and pit area looks these days. She wants to do a day on Sunday 4th July (The Gueux 12 hours always used to be on the first weekend in July). This is seen as a way for people to come over, spend a weekend in the fantastic region of Champagne, maybe bring a car and have a buzz around, and be part of getting something going again. It may even in time help to save this historic site from complete destruction. Does anyone out there know anyone who might help, or be interested in this? At the very least, does anyone have any historic info about Gueux or the races held there? There is none of this stuff in France - it's all held over here in the UK, and she's trying to find out what she can about this.

This was tried a few years ago. With actual historic racing on the circuit planned. I was booked on a tour, hotel in Reims with promise of lots of champers! Sadly it was all cancelled,I recall due to some problem with the local authority resurfacing the roads. So I ended up at Basildon instead.
