Williams Reverse Tobacco Trend
Williams to announce new anti tobacco sponsor, Niquitin. This multi million-dollar deal will replaces Veltins.
Look at: http://sport.telegraph.co.uk/sport/m...5/ixsport.html Well Williams are definitely thinking ahead to the tobacco ban. They have Compaq/HP to replace Rothmans-Winfield. What about the others? Ferrari have Vodafone, but what about McLaren, Renault, and BAR? |

Williams didn't have tobacco sponsorship for some time... Anyway, they're going anti alcohoolic as well I reckon... Replacing Veltins? Do they know something we don't know? Ban on beer ads in foreseeable future?

Haven't Veltins been off the cars since mid 2002?

Veltins sponsor the Jags now.
Apparently McLaren tried to lure HSBC away from Jaguar but failed. The West deal ends at the end of the 2004 season... |

I expect some tough battles for sponsors in the near future... almost similar to those that happen right now in F1GrandPrixManager on-line game...

Few more sponsors like this, and Max cannot pressure EU for introducing the Grand Prix of Absurbanistan, or similar to replace all European GP. :P

I'm surprised something like this hasn't been done earlier, I guessed the anti-tobacco people don't have quite the same amount of dosh as the likes of BAT and Philip Morris... |

It was at the beginning of this season too. Actually PlanetF1 still lists them among Williams sponsors... (and I remember recently on TV, ads featuring Ralf Schumacher and his entire mechanics crew)

This avenue has been available for a long-time, the surprise is that it has taken one of them so long to go down it.
