Oulton Park marshals trackday
I'd like to say a big, no - MASSIVE thank you to every one invilved in todays Oulton Park marshals trackday. Thank you to Mike Newton who took me round in the V8 Ford Falcon, Alan Newton (Ferrari 360 modena) and the drivers of the Maxda MX5, Triumph vitesse and the Marcos Mantara who gave me fast laps. Even with the afternoons rain you all gave it 100%. Thank you's also go to the other drivers who brought their cars down for us, the Oulton Park MSV staff and lastly, but not leastly to Jonathon Palmer who made this day happen.
One of the marshals must be mentioned. Ian Lewis was a passenger last year with Tommy Erdos in the Osprey when it broke down. Guesss who was in the Osprey first thing this morning when it broke down again? Yes, Ian. He then got in a Caterham which promptly went off at Lodge losing a mudguard. Undeterred, Ian then drove a Nissan Skyline and after a 360 spin at Foulstons then put it in the gravel at Druids! |

It was a fantastic day and I really enjoyed it. I would also like to add my thanks to all concerned, Jonathan Palmer and his Oulton Park staff, Stephen Green, our fellow marshals who had to endure the rain in the afternoon, and last but not least a very big thank you to all the drivers who gave up their time to take us out for fast laps in their own cars. |

Ditto from Me and Lady S -
And thanks to the Caterham boys who talked her into getting into the Roadsports car for a few quick laps at the end of the day in the pouring rain... And to the MX5 guys who managed to give her 1 1/2 quick laps before Ian's little off put the flags out.. but put her mind at ease about being on track plus the Chap who I nearly got a hot lap off in the Triumph, but they had just closed the track And of course thanks to Mr. Palmer and all at MSV and BMMC who gave us the oppotunity for the day |

Massive thanks to MSV, the BMW needed a little tinkering throughout the day but survived. It seems it was the only car to survive a session with Mr Lewis in the passenger seat
First time in RWD on track meant the first session had the odd moment, but as the day progressed I managed to find a rhythm that didn't make the car suffer too much! After the circuit closure at 3pm, we saw the clouds darkening and with the rain lashing down, decided to call it a day. The car had survived thus far and we figured a "last session" was tempting fate, especially in those conditions, so packed up and headed home. Many thanks to those offering pax laps, I never got chance but all were patient and courteous on track. So, cadwell then? |

well what a day, and how iam paying for it now, didnt do to much walking around but now i am firmly back on crutches struggling to get anywere but it was worth it.
i learnt a few things from this, mr2 tubs are actually quite quick, mx5's are better in the soaking wet than they are in the dry, getting the belts on in a catheram is so bloody hard(nod nod wink wink fazza) and a ferrari 360 race car in the wet is the most stunning thing ever!!!! a huge thanks to all involved from me and my dad (up untill wednesday he had never been anything resembling a race car and never been round oulton despite taking me there for nearly every weekend for 20 years) i think i was chatting to ian about his bmw at one point and big jim, i did find out who you were but you looked v busy at the time so i left you to it. i will def be sending an e-mail to mr palmer and also a huge thanks to ste green for the organising, it is very appreciated! |

All i can say is "WoW!"
This time i ensured i got most of the rides i wanted in the morning, as somehow it just had to rain during the afternoon. The Ferrari 360 was great - i don't think the smile on my face will go for a very long time. Had great fun in the Caterham, MX5 and of course Pitbull's 200sx and Fazza's MR2. Have to say going backwards thru Druids in to the gravel wasn't exactly how i thought an MR2 should be driven, but hell it was worth it to see the smile on the marshal's face as he rang it in to race control Shame i didnt get to ride in the MG (think it was anyway) but i promise i'll do that one next time. So much fun i'm almost tempted to go to Brands for their day....almost! Heres a few piccies i took during the day > http://www.flickr.com/gp/81995674@N00/4203sT |

Like everyone else, I'd like to thank Jonathon Palmer and the Oulton Park team for the use of the track, and all of the drivers who brought their cars along for us to ride in. It was a brilliant day despite the rain. Role on next year!

Just like to add my thanks to all for agreat day.
Yes I did a 720 out of Cascades into lakeside but kept it on the black stuff. then latter after a bit more rain a 360 into the gravel at Druids. Oh and please remind me next time I go out in a caterham in the wet to wear a full face helmet I well like my face has had a good rub down with wet n dry!! PS Ian didn't break my car when I took him out. |

There was a fuel leak from the fast filler which caused a fire. I got the impression is was quite spectacular. Apart from that we had a great day, the Falcon had only had a new gearbox since completing the Silverstone 24hr ran faultlesly all day, and brought a smile to all who had a ride in her. |

My appologies, looks like the MG Lola at quick glance.
Ah that explains the powder then. |

As I have posted elsewhere, thaanks and three cheers for Dr.Palmer and MSV! Hip! Hip! Hooray!.
We in the Triumph garage had a great day, and thank you to Mike, Lord Summerisle and others who descended to our level when sated with the heights of Ospreys and Falcons. Sorry that we didn't get those laps, M'Lord. Another time, come earlier please for some real world racing laps! That Ferrari was incredible - I was tiptoing around in the wet and he just blasted by (in a most courteous way, of course!) John |

I'd like to echo the sentiments given by everyone else. A massive thankyou to Jonathan Palmer, everyone on duty at Oulton Park, especially the poor marshals on post in the driving rain and wind. I had some fun in my cinquecento and in Simon Jacksons Nova which came to a premature end with a dropped valve. He was gutted that nobody else got a chance to go out in it. I also enjoyed the diesel panda experience, surprisingly quick for a little car! Unfortunately the weather beat me to a ride in the MX5, they keep coming back for more punishment! Thanks to everyone who brought hot lap cars, they were totally awesome! The track days go from strength to strength! I can't wait for the next one at snetterton.

What an excellent day - many thanks to all who were involved and arranged, from Jonathan Palmer to everyone else involved. I really enjoyed it all, the range of different cars was superb.
