Briscoe to Replace Lazier at the Glen??
I heard a rumor that Ryan Briscoe will be in the D&R car this weekend at Watkins Glen, but Lazier will return for Texas.
I still can't find an entry list on the IRL site. Can anyone confirm this??? Your thoughts on this one-race change (if it is true)??? |

I like Budy Lazier, but the next generation of US driver have got to be better at rr, just like Briscoe. He will add some good data the team which its nedds, so that will be good....

gee , now Im at a loss.
Im a huge Buddy Lazier fan but also a Briscoe fan (after all he is a fellow Aussie) I guess it will be good to see Ryan have a go again (and he was pretty quick if not irratic on the road courses last year) but Imglad Buddy will be back for Texas |

Its Nice to see Briscoe back.
Its sort of sad to see Lazier get the boot albeit for one race, but I feel that he's part of a different IRL era. |

When are we going to see the billboard with Mr. Briscoe - your new Toyota is ready? I hope he won't be consigned to a fruitless career in V8 Supercars :-( |

It's unfortuante for Buddy not to be able to race, although he doesn't have any real record on road courses, and the result Ryan achieved would have been beyond Buddy. In some ways seeing a road-course ringer can be seen as positive for the IRL - it shows that there are still some drivers without a road racing European-style background around. It also emphasises how unfortuante it is that Ryan didn't get a ChampCar drive.

Briscoe was the beneficiary of attrition in the Watkins Glenn race. His legacy on ovals is millions of dollars in smashed equipment and a brush with the almighty. And there is only one road course left on the schedule anyway.
Not sure if it was such a good move to put the youngster back in the seat. |

Attrition helped, but he did set the second fast lap of the race. Everyone is wrapping Marco on here, but Briscoe's fast lap was only .03 seconds slower - in a cruddy D&R car. Suggesting he wasn't quick in a poor car is a fallicy. |

Anyway, young Mr. Briscoe was not in the texas race. Didn't hear his name mentioned during the televised race commentary as well.

I think Briscoe could win a championship in the US if he was given enough time (and spare equipment)

He's shown that he can't really get the job done on ovals. ChampCar would suit him far more, as he clearly is a gifted road racer. I doubt Buddy could've finished top 10, let alone on the podium.
