Super Cheap Auto 1000 Ratings figures
A MOUNTAIN OF RATINGS
The Super Cheap Auto Bathurst 1000 confirmed its iconic status with the 1000 kilometre race yesterday attracting an average audience of 1.3 million and a peak of 1.7 million watching Mark Skaife claim his fifth Bathurst title and co-driver Todd Kelly receiving one the best birthday presents possible. The average of 1.3 million was achieved over seven hours (10am – 5pm). The average audience for yesterday’s broadcast was up 100,000 on last year and the peak up 200,000. Cricket took a back seat yesterday with the 2pm – 6pm session of the one-day match averaging 980,000. Network Ten’s general manager, sport, David White said: “This event continues to grow in stature which is wonderfully evident by the average audience of 1.3 million people watching for seven straight hours. “Taking into account we were head to head with the cricket for three hours makes the result even more satisfying.” Immediately following the Bathurst broadcast, TEN showed the Formula One Grand Prix from Suzuka in Japan with the 90 minute broadcast attracting an average audience of 700,000 and a peak of 900,000. 2005 Super Cheap Auto Bathurst 1000 ratings 2005 Network Sydney Melbourne Brisbane Adelaide Perth Average 000s 1,290,000 398,000 357,000 269,000 143,000 124,000 Peak 000s 1,700,000 517,000 505,000 348,000 167,000 163,000 CSHR% 63.8% 67.2% 61.9% 65.4% 63.8% 56.1% Note: Peaks are based on 15 minute intervals (Apologies for table - info was received via PDF so made re-formatting a tad hard) |

Neither do I - channel switch hot ratio? It doesn't really apply to the figures they give so I am thinking it may have something to do with 'churning' ie low many stayed tuned for the full period?

Does this make Aussie Bernie call it the "race that stops a nation" now.
next he will be convincing us that Phar Lap was a commodore. |

And Phar Lap was "built" in New Zealand wasn't he?
Does anyone know how these ratings are gathered? In all my years of watching Bathurst I have never been asked by any survey if I watched it or not. Don't tell me they have devices that monitor what everyone watches now! If they do, I bet you Mabs will be angry at Channel 10 over it. |
