ELMS 2013 Discussion
(Apologies if there is a thread for this already, if so delete of merge)
Anyway, seems like the calender is out: Quote:
Weird of them to release it during the PLM race. |

It's the final round of the ELMS so maybe not so weird.
Good to see the Silverstone double-header confirmed. A feast of sportscars a couple of months before the big one. |

Happy to see the Red Bull Ring on the schedule, what a beautiful place. Any news on race distances?

Is it set in stone or is their scope to expand at all? I love it that ELMS is back, the season just seems a little short!

4.5 hours from what I've heard. I could imagine it being billed as 500 Miles, as that's just about as long as they'll travel in that period of time.
Edit: DSC says 3 hour races. Last edited by Speed-King; 20 Oct 2012 at 18:53. |

Three hours... Well, I guess the running costs will be low.

12-13.04 Silverstone GBR with FIA WEC
17-18.05 Imola ITA with FFSA GT Tour 19-20.07 Red Bull Ring AUT with World Series by Renault 13-14.09 Hungaroring HUN with World Series by Renault 27-28.09 Paul Ricard FRA with World Series by Renault What about Official Test Session on Paul Ricard in March? And what's "FFSA GT Tour" ? Three-hour races, two-day weekends, no changes to class structure - a good direction? |

GT Tour is the French GT3 championship. Has seen better times, though, with grids down to 20-ish cars these days.

I'm typing this from memory so apologies if I'm wrong but those dates look vaguely familiar, I think these dates are going to clash with the WEC and ALMS. I'm going to check schedules now.

Hm, 3 hour races for ELMS will make it less attractive for 3 drivers

How does 2 x 3h format actually reduce costs? I'm not doubting, but just asking how? You almost think it would be the opposite, since 2 x preparation.

With all the money Google have they could certainly stand to pump a bit more into their translation software. |

You're right, but even the English version on elms.com is extremely confusing.

I think my main issue with how the calendar now stands is that we've got a very busy April / May period, with quite a few events I'd like to go to in appealing locations, with the consequence that I'm unlikely to be able to do the lot of them, and then post Le Mans, a lot of stuff that frankly is a lot less likely to be accessible.
I guess a weekend break to Budapest in September is not entirely unfeasible - but realistically it almost feels like the old days when the season essentially finished with Le Mans. |

GT3 cars welcomed in ELMS 2013! Wasn't the case this year but nobody showed up?

I don't know really. Point is in Blancpain GT3s are the top class, the lone one (even they are devided in three). In ELMS they will be only the fifth one behind P2, PC and both GTEs.
