FIA GT Rnd 10: Dubai 16-18 Nov 2006
GT1 entry a bit depleted for the final round but GT2 looks like it's a bit bigger?
Larbre have entered a 550 with the developmental 'low cost' engine in it for evaluation purposes. No Lamborghini and no Cirtek Aston which I thought might make the trip along with maybe the Menten Vette? Vitaphone have entered Eric Van Der Poele and Vincent Vosse in the 2 Maserati's making them 3 driver line ups for this event (shame not in a separate 3rd car!) |

Cirtek don’t have any Aston, that’s all Team Modena now. But you are right, Team Modena announced some month ago plans to race in Dubai. Unfortunately that doesn’t come true. |

the larbre 550 should be very interesting, I hope it goes well. If it proves quick then we might get more of them. (more is better to me at least)

I know the Belgian Racing Vertigo had technical problems and will get parts flown in from Belgium today, but what happened to the 2nd Ebimotors Porsche?
Spyker 3rd and 6th, not bad at all. Last edited by Marcel ten Caat; 17 Nov 2006 at 13:58. |

And the Labre Ferrari 550 takes pole! I wonder if we will see these cars once again in GT1 in 2007? If what I have read is true then Prodrive do have a strong case for managing the engines life. Here are the full qualifying times courtesy of www.autosport.com

I wonder whether the Larbre Ferrari's performance today was down to the electronically restricted engine giving more power than the traditional air restricted engines, or down to Gabriele Gardel who I seem to remember was pretty impressive at Dubai the last two years.

The Porsches from GruppeM last year would have been 2nd and 4th on this years grid but again they ran Michelin last year and Collard was not able to live with the Ferraris this year, anybody know why #75 did not put up a time in qual? |

The F550 run with 50 (40 + 10 kgs setted in the night) kg of ballast and for FIA decision started behind the GT1 cars, and have several problem.
Anyway, the car got the 4th best lap at 3 Tenths from the fastest lap, and the drivers was not champions like Lamy (last year) I think it is difficulty for FIA/ACO/FFSA accept the car in this configuration, I hope, I dream, but a F550 faster then a DBR9 should be a no-good thing for the Prodrive business. We need time to understand the situation, and the future of the programs for tha Care Racing |

The car basically ran to its own rules as a test bed, scoring no points. This was allowed by FIA to see the performance and advantages of a electronic control module as a restriction device! As the car was ran,it sounds like it met no sactioning body's rules. Testing only!

However, it should be noted that our car has no ballast, which gave it some advantage. But it should be remembered that last year we had an excellent set-up for the car, which we have not forgotten. Was there some controversy over the 550's performance? |

On Fridy evening the GT Bureau add an additional ballast of 10kg to the F550. Then there was a request of all the GT1 teams (again initiated by Vitaphone) that there are some championship decisions are open and that the Larbre F550 must start begind all the other GT1 cars. That request was rejected.
But after the warm-up lap Gabriele Gardel droves through the pitlane instead of the start finish straight. |
