new GT3 class
i read about the FIA adding a GT3 class to the already hard to eplain to newbies, gt1 and gt2 classes...
it would comprise of car 'bridging the gap' between "Cup" style racers (Trofeo, 360 cup, Porsche supercup...) and GT2 which we see as populated by Porsches and a few Ferrari 360's, so what or who would be in GT3- smaller 'traffic' cars- dare i say front drive GT's (golf and touring type cars, or GTX tube frame cup racers?) anyone else know more about this? |

Take a look at the British GT championship grid's and u get a fair idea of what sort of cars we could expect. BMW Z3's, Lotus Elise's, Corvette C5's, as well as GT3 cup porsches, 360 challenge cars etc, and maybe BMW M3's and Renault clio V6 cars etc. Hopefully no Golf's though, or any other FWD car lol. IMO.

The class has provided close racing in British GT's, but the cars remain generally uninspiring so far. It's never going to bring in any really exciting cars, because who's going to create an all-new exciting GT car only to make it comparatively very slow, very quiet and an acting-mobile chicane for what is already a "supporting" class in GT2?
Latest addition to GT3 in BGT this year was the BMW ZM Coupe - there's an article about the BGT car in June's "Total BMW" magazine, revealing that the car was registered as long ago as 1999 - so it's already 6 years old... |

Old Thread - new facts
Read here (and take a look at the introductery brochure-PDF): SRO-Annuncement Will this concept work? How to ensure 6 cars each manufacturer? Will that be an obstacle for the championship? Personally I like the concept. |

Will it run as a class in FIA GT or will it have its own race at the same weekend of FIA GT?
Well, new cars will probably include the Aston Martin DBRS9 and the Lambo Gallardo. |

All this is answered in the mentioned introduction brochure (its a link to a PDF-File)
around a dozend of makes would be eglible 2 1hour races - so no participation within the FIA-Gt races (yet) |
