Nope, not yet. I'm hoping van der Steur has repaired their Radical, but I'm doubtful. I'd expect 26-28 cars or so.

If last years Grand Am race at Long Beach is any indication expect a carnage-fest. And GA was DPs only, so no slower cars to pass!
I think it's really cool, because it reminds me a bit of the old IMSA downtown races, but I'm afraid this will not be without severe damage. In the GA race at LB two cars were completely destroyed. I have very mixed feelings about that one... PS: I know that this thread is about the St.Pete race and not about Long Beach, but Sportscars and street circuits give me generally a veeeery bad gut feeling! |

There were no crashes at Houston last year, and that was with 4 classes racing at once on an even shorter and notoriously bumpy street circuit. I'd be surprised to see at least 1 car totally destroyed next weekend.

Think 'Pinball' ...the ALMS are wary of St. Pete...even SCCA World Challenge was a wrecking yard here last year.
'Tis the marketing folks thought it was a good idea...I'm just hoping for a Porsche-Ferrari grudge match in GT2 |

Yeah, I gotta agree. this seems like a good track for a crash fest, not as tight as Houston though? or at least it looks like it isnt, havent seen a race from there for a few years now. could be a good chance to see how close all the classes can be, and maybe a P2 on pole?

I kind of think the higher corner speeds at St.Pete could lead to more crashes, but I've been wrong. I am excited for the car count and depth for an ALMS non-endurance race. I kinda think there will be a Porsche Spyder on pole myself, should be fun to watch!!

Well I wouldn't be surprised to see one of the LMP2 cars take the overall win here. GT2 should be interesting as well.

The timetable's link is Long Beach's one.
I noticed that Champ Cars get a lot more practice time than ALMS - is it always so? Doesn't ALMS feel inferior so? |

St.Pete is with the Indy cars and its not 100 minutes its 2h45m
Long Beach is with CART and that race is 100 minutes. Obviously at Long Beach, ALMS is the support series. The situation is not as clear for St.Pete. |

No big deal, but I would prefer to attend the ALMS "undercard" at St. Pete than LB. Last edited by FLGTFAN; 23 Mar 2007 at 01:55. |

CART is the main show. IRL isnt, watch it in single seater circles, they'd have your balls for that! |
