Super GT Round 3 - Fuji Speedway
Check out the latest pictures and results of round 3 of this series. There is a great picture of the Ford GT in action, the Shiden, and beautiful Mt. Fuji.
The new Lexus is clearly performing really well, and the '06 NSX is quick and looks awesome. The grid was just over 40 cars this round. The official site is www.supergt.net |

It was awesome compared to the GT racing we have on this side of the world. Lets bin GT1 & 2 and bring on GT500 and GT300.
Only question is - how on earth can the Mooncraft be classified as a GT is a modified Riley DP?? |

well i think they are going to produce road cars (as much as road versions of vemac RD's and garaiyas are around) it definately looks amazing in the picture running down to the first corner (mini GT-one?? and nothing like a DP!!!)
those GT500's have around LMP levels of grip and downforce apparentely, no wonder the lambo's and ferrari had trouble staying with them. |

Re: the GT500 downforce
Perhaps put this issue to Mulsanne Mike, at Mulsanne Corner, as he has lots of aerodynamics data. Obviously the drag and lift from the surfaces is much greater on these cars than on any LMP, so it would of course be less. However, it would be good to know how much better than a FIA GT1 car they are, and how close to the LMPs. I would like to see some downforce kits developed for the European GT1 cars that could be added 'at will' for the race weekend and then removed easily for FIA GT1 use. The fact this seems not to be possible at the moment, leads me to think that the FIA GT1 cars may be underperforming aerodynamically, with too much drag. Refinement in this area, instead of always the engine, would assist them in the regular FIA GT season, and at Le Mans. Also, were a car to be fielded in the future in Super GT, it would stand a greater chance of being competitive, when my downforce package idea was added. |
