Oreca in 2006......?
An interview with Hugues de Chaunac on Infoscourse.org gives an indication of Oreca's likely sportscar/GT plans over the next couple of years. The full interview (in French) can be found here.
They are working towards a GT1 project for 2006 which will include entry at Le Mans and some other races, FIAGT or LMS. There are currently two possibilities: the first would be as an official works team (Aston Martin or Corvette), the second would involve a constructor seen periodically in GT racing (no clues except that it won't be a Lambo or any other marque associated with VAG). A final decision will be made in mid January. The team is also working towards securing an Audi R10 (or maybe two!) for 2007. Negotiations are ongoing with Audi. |

Well that would be just tooooooooo much to ask for. It does look like they are still active with Dodge, as they are preparing the copetition coupes for the GT3 challenge, so I guess you never know.

Saleen, with Acemco, have the car under that name, but ran by oreca, they (Acemco) already have a pre-selection.

Incidentally, the DSC release of this news suggests we're likely to see a third Saleen on the grid at Le Mans. I'm assuming this refers to Acemco......... |

Given the Oreca are a french team, is it any more likely that we will see a car that the ACO seem to dislike given any more entries than those pre selected?
Lets hope so, if not maybe WR and Oreca should team up, a WR/Oreca/Saleen would be very hard to turn down!! |

I reckon we will see 3 S7R on the grid . Oreca has a prerequsite by being french and by being a crack outfit , and Acemco has a by . I could also see Playstation being involved too .
Zakspeed , afaik , have their drivers picked for their car . Im hopeing that maybe Uwe Alzen might get a chance in the Oreca car ..... I must say , that i am delighted about this gem of news . I have missed that car at Le Mans the past few years . |

Given that Oreca are Hoping to get entries, does this mean the cars will also make the trip to Sebring and run a full LMeS program.
Is it possible one of the cars will be a joint Oreca/Ameco entry to take advantage of the pre selection? Are Zakspeed or Konrad hoping to be in france in June as well? btw, have Saleen overcome the problems that made the car a bit of a handful when run with the ACO spec wings that lead to ameco pulling out last year? |

Is this pretty much confirmation that Konrad will be returning to the Porsche stable in 2007, with the Spyder?

Just when I thought the Saleen has said goodbye to the top of international motorsport this happens. Awesome news, and I hope they succeed

This is definitely good news. But I'm just not sure how competitive this car can be in true ACO trim. We shall see though. Certainly if the car is capable of more then ORECA is the team to do it. Stephane Ortelli in a Saleen perhaps?
And we also now know what ORECA are doing while they wait for an R10. |

I'm very dubious about this claim. |

With the experience of Oreca gained with the Vipers I expect the S7R to become more reliable next year (at least the Oreca-ones) so this may develop into a "Oreca vs. Prodrive"-battle in the various GT1-grids? |

Didnt the ACO make the rules that made Saleen rear wing smaller and make the car unsafe cause of that Acemco drop of of Le mans this year

I thought the ACO made a revision last year prior to Le Mans, but too late for Acemco/GNM since both had already declined (Acemco) or withdrawn from the reserve list (GNM). I'm sure this step was taken after the amendment made by IMSA for the ALMS.

Agreed - I was quite surprised by the press release saying that the S7R was really successful (although obviously it was bound to!). I'm not a great follower, but always had the impression it never really delivered on promise...?
Hopefully the Oreca investment will bring some new blood to the car |
