2016 VASC Silly Season

I know it might be early as 2015 is not upon us yet however I think its time for thoughts and predictions for 2016 with some big names off contract as well as some potential new players in terms of Make & Models. What do we all think of the possibilities.

I suppose I will start off so here goes; (its kind of a 2 part prediction)

Pending the outcome of 2015 silly season if S Pye is unable to secure a full time gig (which I believe Penske is nuts if he misses out)

Scotty will be an Enduro driver for #1 replacing the departing Dumbrell.

Following this prediction is for #888 to have a new pilot in 2016 in the form of S Pye and Mr Lowndes to finish his career with Team Penske. And with the death of the FGX Falcon at the end of 2016 some DJR Team Penske Mustangs will look the part as well in 2017 Breaking cover at Bathurst next year in a schmick retro DJR mustang livery. (Perhaps the Johnson/Chrichton Black Version)

Well there will be no new models in 2016 as the rules arent being changed until 2017 AFAIK.
Also I thought these threads were for rumour/speculation not out and out fantasy

Pretty sure GTR started the 2015 Thread in the November of 2013.

I think this one might actually be a bit late....................

Isn't both Red Bull drivers contract up at the end of next yr as well as JC at HRT and I think that Dollar Will's is as well.

Both Red Bull drivers are until the end of '16, from memory.

Will Davo's expires at the end of '15.

Lowndes, Whincup and Red Bull sponsorship contracts all expire at the end of 2015.

http://www.v8supercars.com.au/news/c...s-a-wanted-man

Another cautioning for Dane factor is major sponsor Red Bull’s current deal expires at the end of 2015 and he is unwilling to make important commitments like new driver contracts until that situation has been clarified.

The contract of Lowndes’ teammate of nine years Jamie Whincup’s also expires at the end of 2015. In more settled commercial conditions in the past Dane has signed them to new deals more than a year ahead of time.

So for 2015 we have :
Commodore
Falcon
Ultima
AMG
same same for 2016, But I wonder if Mr Penske is already looking at the ins and outs of a Mustang , back home to see how it can fit into , Supercars Australia 2017.

Ryan Walkinshaw would have to be doing the same homework to continue supporting the Holden Dealer team , as Holden Manufacturing would be gone, for the Camaro or another Gm product.

Roland would also be busy looking at what to run, maybe something from the past stable of T888 Euro.

Maybe they will hold a 2017 release day on the same Day as the AFL or NRL grandfinal .

It makes no sense racing a factory backed Camaro if Holden have no intension in selling it here.

I have heard recently that with the death of manufacturing in Australia and the platform that underpinned the current Camaro that future Camaro will be built on a Cadillac platform and therefore no RHD...

Could be re-engineered to accept RHD.

The Cadillac platform (Alpha) is a development of the Commodore/Camaro platform (Zeta). It is capable of being built in LHD or RHD in both RWD & AWD.

Consider the thought that perhaps Holden will be replaced by Chevrolet completely?

why would holden (or whatever name they end up with) not keep using the commodore, surely that is a logical way of promoting the made overseas product

Depends how you want to look at it, Commodore could have been the Kingswood if they thought this way.

Insignia is a very different car and to the public it isn't a Commodore. They wil market it differently I would imagine.
