newton-john

hi all. i am an f holden fan (dont hit me!). i was wondering if anyone knows what happened to emerson newton-john? he did really well for his first season of f holden and almost won his first race against rick kelly (2nd) at the island. his team nrc then folded and he was left to drive some average cars for the rest of the year, still managing podiums and great drives. i thought for sure he would at least get a v8 test? for not knowing the tracks and jumping from sedans, just thought something would have happened to him in oz? he seemed to be a nice enough guy and very bloody marketable too. with a name like that in oz and some talent to boot, seemed like he would have gone somewhere? anyway..... what do you all think of will power and the other fast f holden drivers this year?

Last i heard he had signed to race in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series this year, although the race i saw a couple of weeks back, he wasn't in the field.

I think he at least had a V8 test with NRC, but that didn't lead to anything

That is a pity because I heard he went like 'grease lightning' and Arthur said told him 'you're the one that I want' but Emerson was 'hopelessly devoted' to returning stateside

According to Fiorentina over in the kart forum, he's racing stock cars and will run a Busch North race in September and a few more truck races towards the end of the year.

I think he's the real deal. He looked pretty sharp in Australian Formula Holden last year - about the same as Formula 3000.
