Will Minardi score any points this season?
I think Brazil was their best shot so far. I think they both ran in the points before crashing out:confused:
But anyway, do you think Minardi will score any points this year? |

No chance in hell they're getting points the normal (hard) way.
Maybe if everyone in front drops out. Last edited by ASCII Man; 6 Jun 2003 at 22:33. |

Yes, but only by fluke... There was a rumour of them having a deal with Mercedes for next year. Any news on that?

Toyota did!! Its proof that the sun shines even on those least deserving.
Seriously, I doubt it. The midfield is much more closely matched this year and Minardi are too far behind. |

I agree with V - I just don't think it's going to happen for them this season - barring acts of God or Steve Nielsen...

F1 cars are too reliable nowadays--purists might object, but I used to like it when the fancied runners dropped by the wayside and Fabrizio Barbazza, Phillipe Alliot and the like were able to score for back of the grid teams.
Unless/until the new engine regs reduce reliability, Minardi don't have much hope of getting the c.10 retirements they need to score points. |

They must improve the chassis first

Unfortunatly not, the front teams don't break down anymore, look at Monaco, top 4 teams top 8 places.

Well obviously they need rain & a lot of carnage.
Anything's possible. Could it be that Webber has scored their last points ever? |

They will need a high attrition race to score any points this season. Though there will be more high attrition races - surely?

Certainly, the new 8-points system will help them out big style. We've seen how good they can run - especially with Wilson's starts. It will need luck, but, sometimes it's better to be lucky than good!
So, why not, yes, they'll grab a point this year. |

They are going to need a lot of luck, plus a rain-effected race, to have a chance at points.
But I still had to vote no because the top cars are just so bloody reliable nowadays. |

Sure, they'll trouble the scorers, but probably not more than one or two. But I'd be amazed to see them end the season on zero.

As sad as it is, I say no. I can't see them getting even close to it, at least last year they had Jaguar, Arrows and Toyota to muck about with at most races, nowadays its pretty much them on their own level, below everyone else.

I say yes. They wont get them on merit (but there are at least 3 teams that score without that), but lady luck could help them out. Combined with points down to 8th they could be in with a shot.

I really hope they do but like most of you have said only 1 or 2pts and it will be more luck than pace, it pains me to say it as i am a real Minardi fan but it looks as though Stoddy is getting very tired with the whole situation, i do hope he stays around and i hope he gets Rinland in to design a decent car, Tredozi seems a nice enough bloke but he has come up with a couple of stinkers, come on Paul, get Sergio on board to give him a hand and lets get up the grid for real.

Well, most high attrition races happen early in the season - the only exceptions I can think of are Spa 1998 and Nurburgring 1999. Monaco usually has the highest attrition every year, but after this year, where there was only one driver error DNF, I don't think Minardi will get any points this year Then again, there's always Wilson's home GP at Silverstone... |

Yes, they need a bit of luck or rain or something to do it, but it's possible.
