How many Calibras were made?
Some of the running gear made it into some MK4 rallycross Astras (Martin Schanches for one) but I've got no idea about whole cars. |

I think around the 20 cars the most are 1996 ITC cars.
1 testcar 2 for 1993 3 for 1994 6 for 1995 ? 7 for 1996 ? Oke my Engelish is not so good, you mean that the Calibra's are used for cross Astra's ? |

Sorry for the confusion I think it was the main parts of the running gear that were used in the Astra's. The driveshafts, differentials and gearboxes? and maybe even the brakes were taken out of the Calibra and fitted into a Mk4 Astra shell (I believe the Astras run a 2 litre turbo engine). As you can imagine the performance is pretty good!

Ric Wood used to race a Calibra in Formula Saloons. Not sure of it's history but it's usually described as an ex-DM car. See www.ricwood.com

No, that's not a DTM car, technical specifications say: "Designed and built by Pilbeam racing".

I belive Opel AG still have most of the dtm calibras in their warehouses in germany, Opel Performance are the best people to ask (formally opel Motorsport) email them at opc@opel-performance.de . Speaking of the Astra, the DTM Astra is now in retirement |

I know a few of them are for sale. You should try looking for them on the used racecar sites. But I agree, I don't see many on the market. There are a lot more DTM Mercs and Alfas on the market. I wonder why??? Was Opel afraid of their technology/secrets leakingn out?

I ahve send Opel a week ago already a email but no answer yet.
Opel has sold a ex DTM Kadett to the Dutch Opel Rally team in 1990. I have never seen a Calibra for sale or seen in a nother championchip. One car is sold to Guidici or was that a lease car :-) Opel has sold some Omega's from the DTM but never a Calibra. I think Opel knows that the Calibra was a big part of there Motorsport history. Are you wanting to buy a DTM Calibra or just curious where they're all located nowadays?

Could this be one of them?
It was raced in the Swedish SLC series last year. According to the info I have, it utilises a 4.0l V8 with 365 horsepower. Not sure if it indeed is an old DTM/ITC Calibra, but I do know for a fact that several older DTM BMW's and Mercedes' have found their way into the SLC series. |

The picture on Ric's website is fairly old, the front of the car has been considerably changed since then (see http://www.redshoes-archive.com/info.php?ID=5763 for 2003 pic).
Actually though you're right, the Swedish one isn't Ric's car. |
