On paper the BMWs should go well here but I think that Focus is unstoppable, plus if the weather is mixed as it has been all month, you can write off the Beamers.

I'm hopeful it'll be fairly close up front, probably (as usual) a fight between the BMWs of Hill and Turkington, the Fords of Sutton, Cammish, and Rowbo and the Hyundai of Ingram.

Wonder if there will be race replays on ITV's YT channel? Really hoping to as, again, won't be able to watch the races live
However, expect Sutton to lose his championship lead during the Croft weekend so that might not be a nice weekend for me anyway |

I just hope the new Cafe is up and running, they've been building it for long enough!
I do wonder where the commentary box will be moved to, and the TOCA hospitality unit. I suppose with a few less teams being around it opens up some space. |

They are not allowed to call it a café under their planning conditions. |

Rounds 1-15 were uploaded on YouTube last month and have had fairly low viewing numbers (ranging from about 500 views, up to about 7k views - although I think they are geoblocked to UK-only so its perhaps no real surprise). I do wonder what ITV will do for the rest of the season in terms of output. |

Entry List for the weekend - https://www.barc.net/wp-content/uplo...D-25.07.23.pdf
A glaring mistake in the BTCC entry list, Jade Edwards is wrongly listed in a CUPRA Confirms DeLeon will run as #18 and Crees will use his regular #777 MINI Trophy - 31 cars F4 - 19 cars Porsche Sprint Challenge GB - 18 cars (8 Pros, 10 Ams - seems like Somerfield has been reclassified as an Am) Legends - 30 cars |

ITVX is a real pain in the behind. You can’t navigate properly for starters. It’s better watching it live on the telly. There’s plenty of times it’s repeated too, even if it’s not like the old days with BBC Grandstand. That’s the best hope

I've got a Humax Freeview receiver/hard drive recorder so use that to record the whole programme. I can then choose to watch as much as I want, or just fast-forward to the start of each BTCC round and only watch that depending on how much time I have to spare.

Another double option tyre weekend. All 3 compounds (soft/medium/hard) have to be used over the 3 races.

I expect the Hyundais to go well here and plenty of action throughout the field. Should be a close one

FP1 complete. Only 0.049 secs covered the top 3. Hill was 0.5 off, the rest of the top 10 were 0.6-0.8 off 1st place. Ingram only 20th (probably on a very different run plan). Of the new/returning/changed teams drivers, Crees was 17th, Edwards 24th, DeLeon didn't set a time.
1st Cook 2nd Turkington 3rd Sutton 4th Hill 5th Butcher 6th Cammish 7th Chilton 8th Taylor-Smith 9th Lloyd 10th Rowbottom https://www.tsl-timing.com/file/?f=T...3003fp1trg.pdf |

So glad to have the BTCC back. Already looking an interesting weekend. Can't wait to qualifying

Still issues at Hard by the look of it with two cars not getting out for FP1. Are they not doing shakedowns before travelling? Saving mileage? Seems odd that it happens more often than not with them.

No they haven't.
Shakedows are built into the schedule, but they occur after travelling (not before). They usually happen at the circuit on Friday PM. https://twitter.com/BTCC/status/1540604184680173569?t=EnJsArserS88Tu05qwvoXw&s=19 And this article from last season, in which Turkington references the Friday shakedown...https://www.motorsport.com/btcc/news/btcc-croft-turkington-claims-pole-in-retired-bmw/10328374/ |

How does doing a shakedown at an airstrip break the rules unless it's changed for this season? They've been doing shakedowns at testing strips, airstrips etc for years. I'm not talking about at the track that they did during Covid.

Nic Hamilton has withdrawn from the weekend. Hopefully car issues rather than something wrong with him.

One wonders if there are yet more behind-the-scenes shenanigans at Team HARD regarding money/sponsorship/preparation of the cars.
