Single fuel supplier?
There are reports that the new Concorde Agreement allows to determine a single fuel supplier. Of course that would hurt teams, each of which has a supplier (Shell, Total, Mobil, Petronas, Cepsa, PDVSA).
Fuel is currently very regulated, so there wouldn't be any cost savings. Now, would a single supplier put as much money as all the present companies? |

It makes the sport just that bit more sterile. It drives out good companies and at best the costs will escalate over the long run if we give them the benefit that it would save money in the short term. This is a big mistake and I hate it.

Having several fuel suppliers promotes healthy competition & more importantly, research.
Companies that are sole suppliers get idle. |

Everyone talks about road relevance; just use the local pump fuel. That would be far more of a technical challenge than the highly tailored concoctions that pass as 'regulated' these days.
If an engine manufacturer could get 800bhp from regular, wet, dirty supermarket petrol they'd make a killing in the domestic car market. |

Anyway, it was all just some sort of clerical error, which will hopefully mean that we could all be able to buy, in the not too distant future, fuel that actually goes further for the same amount money. |

Wonder what cocktail of fuel might show up for the hand grenades to be used in 2014? |

Its a provision within the Agreement not a certainty that it'll happen.
Remember also that at the moment only the FIA and FOM have signed this...the teams haven't, so there is plenty of wriggle room yet. |

Makes no sense... but it comes from the FIA in the middle of posturing for the Presidential Election... so who knows...
Didnt Shell fund Mr Schumacher's ride at Maranello? |

In 2014 the cars will only be allowed to use a maximum of 100 kgs of fuel, so I guess it must have something to do with that. Perhaps it's not in anyones best interest that the fuel companies use very inefficient ways of making garage forecourt fuels more efficient? Does anyone actually put any of their 'Super' versions of their fuels into their petrol tanks?

According to this article, the FIA has no plans for a single fuel supplier.

And they say F1 isn't a spec series.

Single fuel supplier seems like a terrible idea. The petroleum and lubricant companies are one of the last bastions of traditionally good sponsors for teams in all motorsports.

Sunoco are the official fuel supplier for NASCAR but that hasn't stopped Shell from sponsoring Penske's #22 Sprint Cup car.
