A1GP to return in 2011/2012?

A rescue package has supposedly been put together which could see A1GP return for a 2011/2012 season:

I saw that it might be coming back with V10's and 10 international races.

Interesting - and that does count down to smack bang in the middle of Atosport International show tomorrow.

A quick dig around on Companies House shows that "A10 World Series" was registered as a company back in October 2010. The director and address matches a few other companies (mainly vehicle leasing and financing) but most significantly Teamcraft Motorsport, who I believe ran a few of the A1GP teams (Germany, Switzerland?) and has quite a few ex-A1GP engineers behind it.

The countdown clock on their site hits zero tomorrow, will be interesting to see what - if anything - appears.

It isn't a Ferrari chassis though. The whole car was designed by A1 Technologies, it was designed to look like the '04 Ferrari, but other than that there is nothing Ferrari about it.

20 races across the globe. And Wednesday they will release more information on race format.

I will believe it when I see it in action!

It will work just fine if it starts in September or October, but I believe these guys should get behind SF and get some share there. Then of course change the SF focus out from football towards nation against nation concept. I mean, if Barcelona is in SF, only the fans of Barcelona will follow the series. If Spain is in the series, then the whole of Spain will have a reason to follow it. Nation vs Nation is just a wider audience
SF's big advantage is the organization and the cars, they're just fantastic, basically everybody who doesn't like SF is because he/she doesn't get the concept of football & motorsport. Everything else is fantastic, the races are awesome, the car is great, the sound is the best ever and you have some very, very good drivers.
I would love there to be a winter alternative to F1

I agree with that. SF is a great series, whether you like the football club concept or not. I've always thought (since the end of A1GP anyway) that a sister series should be created 'Supernations Formula' Obviously, much like the A1GP concept with maybe even the same drivers and cars run by the same teams, obviously on the same weekends. Talk about that for value from a race weekend (SlF, SnF, and at some GT1)

Totally agree on the racing, and sure wish there would be a winter racing series to follow (don't you guys miss the racing right now?). But i just don't think in its current form Superleague is going to be a commercial succes.

20 races and 10 host countries implies ten meetings, each with two races, as opposed to twenty tour stops which is too much.

I can't see how this is going to work considering how soon the start of the season is! Unless they've got 20 drivers sworn to secrecy?

10 Host Countries Within:
•Africa
•Asia
•Central America
•Europe
•Oceania
•South America
•The Middle East

The omission of North America is interesting - either they have forgot about it, or they have had advanced negotiations with circuits and this is the only region they haven't been able to do something with

Well, i'm just going to wait and see what they are going to offer, but based on the website and the timing of it all i'm not expecting anything that will be around for long.
