Las Vegas
This thread on the ChampCar board has already produced the following list of 10T's members who will be attending the NASCAR Craftsman Truck / ChampCar double-header on Sept.25:
macdaddy esjay sgjb suzmac brightline camcartfan cartpix racinthestreets GBoehm noquarter Amar7605 Okay... How does this sound? (Time's drawing near, we need to put our heads together) The CraftsMan race starts at 7:00. How 'bout if we meet up at 5:00, in the parking lot behind Turn-4 where the Earnhardt Terrace comes to an end? (Where the words "Grandstand Section 3" are seen on this Track Map). The area shouldn't be as congested, as it is away from any gates. And Flatspot has informed us that we have in/out priviledges with a handstamp and ticketstub. Or... We could meet inside the park, at the beer stand closest to Gate E... There are many ways we can do this. I'm curious as to what everybody else is thinking... |

I honestly feel like a kid awaiting Christmas!
(Having not attended a race of any kind since 2001) (And I've never been to Vegas) My itinerary (not that you care) is this... Thursday Drive to my parent's house in St.Catharines. Friday Fly from Buffalo to Vegas, arrive in the early afternoon. Set up homebase at my cousin's house. Begin party. Saturday Leave for the speedway while everybody else does whatever. I'll meet up with my family at racetime, meet up with 10T's beforehand. Sunday Check out The Strip. Monday Fly to Tucson Arizona. Tuesday Drive to Mexico for a few beers and return to Tucson. Wednesday Mess around with firearms in the desert. Thursday Drive to Phoenix, fly home from there. That's three countries, five cities, in seven days! Last edited by macdaddy; 14 Sep 2004 at 18:14. |

I know how you feel Mac...I am just as excited!!! I will be arriving in Las Vegas on Wednesday September 22 and staying until September 28. I will be at the Stratosphere and I don't know what my other plans are as of yet because I am meeting a friend of mine there. The plans sound good to me but I need to definately know exactly what we are doing for sure before next Wednesday because I don't know if I will have access to a computer while I am out there. If anyone needs to contact me for information or to find us I would be more than happy to give out my cell phone number...just PM me.

I'm arriving Thursday evening and staying with some of the other course observers at a private address.
Schedule for Friday suggests I will have spare time in the morning till about 11.00. Saturday I don't start till 16.00. Sunday, assuming it didn't rain Saturday (does it ever rain in Vegas?) will be a free day, and I am getting the red eye out to MSP Sunday night. |

We'll be driving out, Thursday night. We are staying at the Emerald Suites Nelis. It's about a mile from the track. We'll be working the race, but I think we can squeeze in the meet. Of course I was supposed to meet up with Flatspot at Laguna Seca & missed out. I'll play it by ear.

My sister and I will leave Sacramento at around 1 or 2 PM on Friday and arrive hopefully at around 10 PM. We're gonna drive all the way there (fun).
On Saturday we are gonna explore the strip and anything else that comes to mind. Sunday morning we'll explore the strip even more and then leave at around 2 or 3 PM. It's basically gonna be a "Wam Bam Thank You Ma'am" kind of weekend for us. |

8-9 hour drive from Sacto? Ouch!
I'll be playing poker on Friday and Saturday. I'm game for anything on Sunday. Be staying at the Nugget. Anyone know if we can tailgate at the track? If so, is anyone interested? |

Tailgating...
You can bring all the food and alcohol you want into the parking lot, and there are in/out priviledges from the speedway. This would be the most cost-effective way to meet up, assuming people wish to have a beer or two. The obvious drawback to this is that we would need to have our own coolers handy, and this will prove quite inconvenient. Especially for those who have already entered the speedway and are walking out to join in. Therefore, I'm starting to lean toward meeting inside the facility. It's safe to say that most (if not all) of us are seated in the Earnhardt Terrace, so perhaps a beer stand nearby would be a good place? Say, the one closest to gate E? Those who may wish a beer can get one, those that don't can pick up a soft drink or water. Any thoughts? There are enough of us involved that I look forward to everybody else's ideas and opinions... We also have to come up with a time. |

I think meeting up at the beer stand sounds like a good idea. Now if we can all agree on that and decide on a time that would be perfect!! I am so looking forward to Vegas!!!

Why don't we still make it 5:00 like you originally stated in the other thread "anyone going to Las Vegas"? I think that would be good. What does everyone else think??

I am okay with either inside or out. I arrive on Thursday and plan on gettig to the track at about 5 PM. I will bring a cooler in my rental car as well. Since we are allowed in and out, let us meet at the closest beer garden as suggested. From there, we can decided what to do next. I will be wearing a Champ Car golf shirt with mostly black, some orange, and little white. I will wear a white Champ Car hat with orange lettering. If I can find a sticker store I will wear a sticker that says: "Hi I am a Racaholic" - just kidding. Looking forward to it. Jeff, I too missed Flatspot at Laguna. I had to entertain customers so the opportunity did not present itself. No customers in Las Vegas.

theracegypsy reports for duty at 4:00, but I feel that to schedule our meeting anytime before that would be too early. Many won't be there yet, as the racing doesn't begin until 7. This is a shame, the more of you folks that I meet the happier I'll be.
I like racinthestreet's suggestion - that we meet inside at a beer stand and go from there. |

Just had our asignments, and just to be helpful Jim has given me turn 4. So I will be just oposite pit lane entry, right at the end of the Earnhardt terrace. You should be able to shout at me over the noise of the engines.
Hope we can meet up, and have a drink, even if no |

That's really cool, enemy-ace. I would have spent the money on that, if I could. But it's only happening Oct. 1-2, I won't still be in Vegas.

I was hoping that more members may have added to this thread by now...
Is everybody in agreement? Shall we meet at the beer stand nearest GATE-E at 5:00? And then take it from there? |
