E46 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Touring car World Cup

I am interested in results of Touring car World Cup, mainly 1994 and 1995 editions. I have found entry lists but nothing more. Does anyone know it???any web???

1994 was at Donington- it was run as a single race over something like 40 laps- won by Paul Radisich

95 was in France (Dijon or Magny-Cours)- run as two heats won by Frank Biela- I've got full results, but not immediately to hand- I'll get back to you tomorrow

The 93 race, if you're interested, at Monza was also two heats and aslo won by Radisich

I remember very well 1994 race in Donington, with the very big Volvo 850 Vagon running and a accident in the start.

If you can put 1993 races, fantastic.

Monza 1993- run over 2 heats- afraid I've only got top 6 for this one, although I'm sure I've got full entry list & results somewhere-

1994 Donington- run as single race over 25 laps (long version of the circuit)- about 40 minutes duration

Most of the British cars struggled at Ricard- conversely, the BMWs, which had been nowhere in Britain all year, were fast all weekend-

One of the big differences claimed at the time was that the aero kits on the 'British' cars which had been designed for UK circuits didn't suit Ricard- those on the BMWs and Audi were much better suited to the European tracks they'd been designed for- the BMW kit certainly didn't seem to work in Britain, which suggests there was a measure of truth in this.....

Yes, and as Winkelhock said in 1996 that during the previous years (95, 94 etc) BMW build cars for all of Europe. That made them suit the fast tracks outside the UK better, such as Paul-Richard.

It was a pity it only lasted 3 years.

It was rumoured it was headed to America in 1996, to tie-in with the new North American Touring Car Championship. Was also on the schedule for the World Cup to be run in Helsinki in 1998, but never happened, and the Bathurst 1000 in 1999 was also slated to be the World Cup, but once again it didn't come off.

Here's a question i've never found answered;

Is Roberto Ravaglia still considered the one and only World Touring Car Champion from 1987. Were Radisich and Biela classed as winning a different title, considering it was a one meeting 'Cup' rather than a full year Championship.

I've got full results & Qualifying from Paul Ricard (From Super Touring Magazine) if needed.

I'd guess so- I certainly don't remember the title 'World Champion' being used officially for any of the Cup winners, but I wouldn't like to swear to it....

The 'World Champion' title was never officially used but it has been adopted unofficially. Paul Radisich's website refers to him as the 94 and 95 FIA Touring Car World Champion. I've heard a number of race comentators describe him as such as well.

Exactly Redshoes. Murray Walker did.
As for the Paul Ricard race another point to remember was that not only the aero kits were not designed for the Euro tracks, but the tire providers did not have the data and thus were unable to conduct any sort of testing to come up with a suitiable tire for the race. I'm surprised that the Ford of Burt was sixth in one of those races, especially because the Mondeo had such an appetite for front tires!
