[V8SC07R10] The BATTLE for BATHURST (Merged x4)
At the end of today, our thoughts will turn to our most famous race.
Who's going to win, who's going to crash, who's going to cry? I'll make my predictions later on today. |

Thanks NAC. I thought it was a pretty obvious title though.

And what percentage of the crowd will be too drunk/hungover to watch it, and how many more people will be turned off (and not come) by the feral behaviour that continues to be allowed. Another year goes by- still no word from the powers that be that they will not tolerate the ferals and keep them out. Don't let the off track events overshadow the on track events.

Well done Billy, finally a worthy title
you maybe should read a few threads Raceonly. then you would be aware that they have baned alcohol from the track (although still allowed int he camping area). I'm tipping you havent been to the track for a few years |

So what is the difference between the track and the camping grounds- they are 2 sides of the same coin. That's like saying they have banned alcohol from the beach- you can have it in the water but not on the sand. As long as you allow the alcohol at the circuit, the problem remains. If you were at the circuit last year how could you miss it??? |

i was there as i was for the last 20. you wont be able to walk around the track with cans in your hand, they will ban you entering the track precint with it.
Was that drunken mob asking you to lite up your tyres? |

You can't bring alcohol into the MCG, yet the crowd still ran rampant during one particular game of cricket in January in the One Day Series during the mexican wave.
Banning alcohol is hardly going to prevent drunken behaviour as the bar always have people lining up to buy beer despite the shocking price. Maybe they should just start evicting people from the event and give them on the spot fines for their behaviour. |

maybe its nothing to do with being drunk. maybe its just a mob menatality |

Well, it seems to me that if you ban alcohol- both from bringing it in and selling it a the venue, and banning intoxicating people from entering, that should make it pretty hard to get drunk. Unless there is another way og getting drunk other thank drinking alcohol. Ask any copper what is the source of most anti socail behaviour- it aint mob mentality until the alcohol kicks in. And it is silly to make out that there is a difference between the track and the camping areas- especially when the ferals leave the camping area. I think people need to pull their head out of the sand.

Meantime....
Any bets on a Winterbottom/Halliday #5 combination for pole position? And most likely a Skaife/Kelly #2 or Lowndes/Whincup #888 for the race win? |

Lowndes/Jamie would have to be a special...
Not sure if Halliday is up to it to get Frosty home. Owen Kelly continues to impress (he was awesome in the wet Fujitsu race at Oran Park) Besnard did OK so Courtney's a chance. Ingall and "Use the Force" Luke can improve on last year's 4th If Uncle Tom has learnt from last years disasters, he would put Todd and Skaife together. Likewise Tander and Rick and the HRT/HSV juggernaut would be hard to topple. With Tander and Rick 1,2 in the Championship, I can't see it happening though..... |

I'll go for:
Kelly/Tander Skaife/Kelly Winterbottom/Halliday I think HST will figure that it is better to get the win and leave the championship to be sorted out over the remaining rounds than to risk both drivers losing points. |

I had another idea but I don't need GTR on my case. He's been SO good to me I'm going for Lowndes/Whincup at this moment. I reserve the right to change my mind when co-drivers are announced. You need the 2 main drivers together-end of story. Last edited by billy bigtime; 17 Sep 2007 at 11:19. |

If he can get his head right considering what he went through there last year, I don't think Rat has been out of the drivers seat long enough to be considered a part-timer yet - Assuming Toll/HSVDT take the conservative option and split Rick and Garth again, I think Radisich will be a co-driver more than capable of winning.

Geez it doesn't take long for the mob to turn! Nice display of loyalty. SBR's pit-stops are normally very quick, so they had a bad stop? But to call Ross and Jimmy, two of the sport's hardest working guys and leaders of the team that single-handedly returned Ford to the winners circle after years of Holden domination - dodgy, well that's just disgusting mate. SBR at the moment don't have those extra tenths to whoop the field but if there were ever a Ford team to be treated with respect; it's SBR mate. Back off. |

here here STEVO, i am a Holden man but if there is a Ford team i hold the upmost respect for it is SBR, during the HRT domination period anyone could be forgiven for giving up on Ford but SBR didn't and their patience paid off and they single handedly returned Ford to the top.

I will be interested to see FPR's engine performance at Bathurst. Did anyone notice the problems Rick K had getting past Halliday at Sandown? Everytime they came onto a straight, Halliday simply pulled away.
